it is a skill of poker as it stands at the moment, true.

however, i do not believe that it should be, because as i said before, i believe deals take something from the game.

i am not having a go at parker of course. fair play to him if he can blag that.

i repeat, you have an unusual situation here

a very persuasive short stack

a chip leader who can deal and win in excess of a year's salary, a local lad who has massively played above anything he has achieved before

the circumstances here are Do help contribute to this early deal

Devil's advocate time.....

Did any of this week's events get played to a conclusion without a deal?

I'd be surprised if the answer was >1, much less surprised if it was 0.

I have to disgaree entirely about cricket being lame. The winner of the biggest cricket competition in the world gets a tiny trophy with a few ashes, whilst the losers are left with nothing at all.

the biggest  comp in the cricketing world is the world cup (large trophey) and not the ashes in fact most years the ashes isnt even played between 2 of the top 4 cricketing nations

Don't know why you all think the `big' talkers get the best deal.
In my experience it is the quiet ones and those that only get involved in the discussions
after everyone else has had their say that usually get the best of it.
It is quite simple as you all have said, it is the ridiculous prize money structure that
dictates a deal is likely almost everytime `big' money is on offer.
It makes no sense to gamble for £20k over who wins an AK v JJ!
Please change the payout structure.

Tighty back again

Paul Parker to Rob Nysted

"the best play at the final table was undoubtedly the deal you negotiated for yourself, fair play to you"

for the rankings?

Another intervew with Erik Hansen

q. so how did the final table go for you? any alarms?

a.no, plain sailing, uncontested raises built my stack up from 380k to 470k

q. talk us through the beginnings of the suggestion of a deal?

a. the short stack suggested it first, so we worked chip equity pro rata and tweaked it, but one player wanted a few thousand more than chip equity

a. so a couple of us brokered this

q. why did you want to deal when chipleader?

a. the deal guaranteed me better than second place money and why am i going to risk this on say AA vs KK and a third K falling for example

a.also I am a local player and this is a huge result for me, both poker and money wise

q. why did the deal discussions get so heated?

a. paul would not shut up!!! (laughs loudly!!)

q.  any plans to play more circuit events?

a.not immediately

q.so Luton rookie night on tuesday then?

a.sighs. yes, basically!!

a. seriously though, freezeouts from now on

q. thank you and well done

a. thank you

q.do you need an agent?

a. laughs, i am not giving you 10% of anything

tighty: well i tried!!!
