Yesterday my GF decided that she had an interest in poker all of a sudden. She now wants to learn the game (well, the rules first) and start playing. Does anyone have success stories (or otherwise) with regards to this kind of thing?
She also said she wanted to come and watch some live stuff, I tried to explain to her that it's pretty slow and boring from the outside but she is adamant! Do I give in and let her OR insist that it's not a good idea?

Sounds good to me. She can then at least nod and frown at the right places during your bad-beat stories.

She is wanting to see how much money you blow on poker to see if you are worthy of a life together IMO.
It's a test.....prepare to get ditched when you show little emotion to losing some money. She will see that spending her life with you is high risk and therefore not tenable.
Either that, or she just wants to learn the game and spend more time with you!
What do you reckon?

Lol - do you really have that much sway
It doesn't matter what you say it's obvious one of her friends has said "are you sure he is at poker" so you need to throw full thrust in to teaching her the basics then when she knows the general rules take her along to a beginners tourney at dtd. If she shows little interest in learning and just wants to come along with you then the friend theory is correct.
I would lay money though that within ten minutes a comment about the valets outfit and the snippet of "I can see why you like poker now" will have left her lips
