I would lay money though that within ten minutes a comment about the valets outfit and the snippet of "I can see why you like poker now" will have left her lips

Seen as I spent the first two years playing online only I think I can talk myself out of that one.  I am 100% sure she knows where I am and doesn't think I'm up to anything else.

So were saying that teaching her will be +ev or -ev?  Looking forward to Bedi's response later fwiw.....

Strip poker ftw?

Definitely don't take her to a live game, you'll have to go within an hour.

First take her to a very poor establishment, preferably a bit smelly and with some horrible regs in the hope that she hates it.

Next though, have a cracking home game. Suggest that, whilst you sort the table and chips out, she squares away the pizzas and bar snacks.  Invite a cracking crowd and ensure a great night is had by all...most importantly the missus.

This should ensure she wants more poker nights...plus..you already have her in the routine of sorting the food/beer whilst u set up.

Magic.

ps.  My ex wife loved our poker nights but I'm now divorcing...

Lol!  As much as I love your creativety, I have never held OR played in a home game in my entire life.  Quite odd that none (neither) of my best mates from school / college have even the slightest interest in playing cards.

Thing is, she's known about me playing and benefitted from it for a number of years.  There's no real need for her to learn the game cause she just takes the money anyway.

Anyhow, wasn't really after an autopsy on her decision to want to learn, just, should I teach her and can any good come of it?

I think its a good idea.

My good lady did show an interest when I started to learn the game, and did attend a couple of home games, and ran well and won some coin.  This kept the interest going long enough that when DtD  opened she was interested enough to travel to Notts but the shopping or Cricket always pulled her stronger then DtD and she never played a DtD comp, but she is happy to come and have a beer or meal while she waits for me to bust before midnight.

All of this led to her understanding the game better, understanding the time I once threw at it, and did ultimately get us to Vegas a couple of times, which led to the wedding story and all the rest.  Sadly the allure of the wheel of death is now much stronger for her then the poker table, which does put my hourly rate under a little more pressure.

I can't see a downside to be honest, but the fact you asked the question must mean that something in the back of your mind thinks its a bad idea?  Shared interest, understanding of what you do and the time you invest can only be good?

Shit post Nakor, such a clown.

What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
