hero playing £280 at this point villain is playing roughly the same,  Utg+1 but think we were playing 6 handed by this point, hero opens to £6 villain peels in position everyone else folds  two hearts we both checked dark a lot of banter going on and this was sort of commonplace  on turn hero bets £9 villain calls  Two Diamonds on the river hero checks and villain bets around £42 cant remember the exact numbers:
Whats his range here?

Fold pre in early position even 6 handed.
As played fold, his range is boats or 5's, more than likely a boat hoping you've got a 5.
Even if it is a bluff you've not got the right odds to call with our holding, even if we do beat all other Ax hands.

Villain is Chris, a friend of mine. He bet £26 OTR, and he literally always has it here, he's a nit :p

Seriously though, I don't feel with a bet this big in relation to the pot that many players in a dtd 50/1 game are bluffing. Obviously this is going to be player and read dependant, but just based on the sizing (at £26), we are still not really getting odds to bluff catch given that most people in this game will not have an appropriately balanced range in this situations, i.e. they will not be bluffing enough.

I also wouldn't play this hand pre. There will normally be quite a few players to flops in live games in general, and we want to be playing hands that dominate the ranges of our opponents, so big A's, KQ's etc. Especially from early position, you may find yourself in some tough spots down the streets playing hands like this that don't really flop well, and will almost always end up as just bluff catchers.

Nice to meet you anyway, hopefully get to play you sometime soon! Smiley

the villian made the river bet of £26 for sure, and it was into a pot of about £30 quid, so about 85% pot. does he have many bluffs in his range there? trying to push you off a chop if he had A6 etc? missed flush draw? assuming he read you for an ace...?

I did fold it but i think he did hint at having a bigger Ax and was trying to blow me off a chop sort of situation not really sure what he had just didn't beat much and think derbylads hand ranges are closer to what he would have

about the hand, I would fold pre as discussed, as played am I missing something or do we have two pair aces and fours on A2342 with no flush, so we beat all AK etc and only lose to 5x that has peeled pre and very unlikely two pair that has made a boat?

Can't see me folding the river to many people, even to potsized bet.

My description of this hand was very flawed river was £26 into £31 I've been told today and yes this didn't really go through my mind till after that we are beating all Ax hands and he hinted after the hand this is what he had but he won't tell me outright haha
