This could be really trivial, but would like views please.

£300 deepstack at the weekend.

50/100, I raise to 300 from utg+1. Guy two to my right calls. Rana Gurnam? Welsh guy, 50ish maybe. (I'm fairly sure it's him) 3 bets to 1700 from mid position.

Only been playing 5 mins, and never really played with him before. Just before this hand I 3 bet AA from an early open of 250 to 600 and he peeled ak from the small blind, and check called turn and river bets on a king high board.

I'm playing 31k. He has around 26k.

What's best to do?

Just fold. His range is going to be really tight, you are out of position and playing really deep.

Plus he's come all the way from Wales, that's a bloody long drive! Might wanna jam and get him to fold his Aces  Grin

Thoughts on calling? Or 3 betting?

A 3bet has already been made so I assume you mean 4betting.

Firstly, you have to look at the 50 year old Welsh man's range to 3bet to 1700 after an UTG open and peel. Assuming he fits the bill his range is stronger than AKo. That kinda means AKo+ QQ+ maybe Jacks 'if he don't like 'em'. AK just plays rubbish because you can't play aggressively when you flop anything anyway and he might have aces and kings anyway. If he also has AK he will probably just win the pot anyway.

If you had deuces here it would be better to peel here (fold vs such a huge 3bet here though) because 7/8ths of the time you can just bin them post flop and the other times you can flop a set and maybe win a few chips.

Peel or fold are pretty close. Hard to think we dont have a positive expectation with a hand as strong as AK, but it may be the case.

For the record, I folded. Did consider all options though.

Thanks all.

Never folding vs Rana. Dont really think we can go all-in so I'm calling. I think he might squeeze a load of Ax/Kx stuff so deece implied odds imo... not to mention he attacks A and K high boards obviously

The thing is, I don't know if he does. The only info I have is he flats ak to a 3bet and check calls a k high board.
