Guy opens wide-ish from EP/MP and 100% from CO/BTN/SB so far. He's very passive post and has pretty much checked every flop and turn he's been involved in. I bet the flop and turn really quickly because he doesn't really think much but on the river he timed down a little and then bet.

I wouldn't normally try so hard, but didn't have another opportunity I could wait for. I wasn't ready to surrender what I WANTED SO MUCH, that easily, I couldn't guarantee a call with me staying stoic and relying on a flinch "top pair" calling reflex.

Don't agree with this. The guy is a fish and plays really passive. I can list a lot of hands he peels with that I beat which include pair and/or club draws. I wouldn't be surprised if he would call with just something like K9/A9 no club. I didn't bet particularly big because I obv don't want him to fold out junk hands but it's much better to bet than check when villain likes to go to a lot of showdowns.

well you're right if he's the type of fish that calls a lot but is really passive. They are bad at maximising value out of their
strong hands, but that means basically whenever this guy takes initiative we should just fold. ofc there are a ton of hands he does peel that we beat, but we shouldnt level ourselves into considering the entire range when he bets river, because these guys just have it ffs.
