FTOPS 6max lets play the streets
«

Lost the HH but i remember everything pretty well.
ITM FTOPS 6max yesterday and just moved to this table so pretty readless however villian has a huge stack so we can assume hes somewhat active.
Blinds 500/1k/100
Villian (170k) Me (80k)
Villian opens utg to 2k we defend bb with
Flop
(Pot 5100)
I decide to lead for 3100, villian raises to 7k we call?
Thoughts up to this point? (Ive been messing around a bit with donking etc so dont really want replies of x/r flop obv) What do we think his range looks like.
Turn
(Pot 19100)
We check, villian bets 9300 we?

I wouldn't normally try so hard, but didn't have another opportunity I could wait for. I wasn't ready to surrender what I WANTED SO MUCH, that easily, I couldn't guarantee a call with me staying stoic and relying on a flinch "top pair" calling reflex.

everything looks fine to me, liking donk bets with strong hands into (presumably) aggro players, can't see a reason to 3b the flop, best to call so we keep in all his bluffs!
calling down now

i can see a big reason for 3betting the flop, a hell of a lot of turns that either make his hand, or kill our action

Maybe, he might play AK/KQ/KT with club this way (up until the turn) and will just check back blank rivers. You look fairly strong calling turn although your hand is potentially face up. He could own you but he's a random afaik so guess check folding river is fine.

have to be 2 very bricky bricks for us to win a big pot here. Id prefer to 3bet the flop and let him get his draws in or maybe click us one more time, gives us a good image even if villian 4b/folds.
also we look very strong donk/calling this flop and we almost never have a draw so makes us exploitable on certain turns and rivers.

ye I felt like he was gona be full of it alot, I dont think hes gona give us much credit on bluffing by 3b the flop so duno how often hes gona spaz 4b so feel like were just getting it in dead or vs JTcc otf if we 3b and get 4b.
I could def be convinced its the best play tho

Why can't we bet call draws vs his sizing if I bet a draw I wouldn't fold or 3bet it otf

i think we can have draws more than you say, and i think villain we be bluffing more than we think.
after turn i'm check calling nearly every run out + feel like donking all paired rivers as well

Is this some kind of hilarious practical joke?

We have loads of draws with this stack depth. I like to lead draws that can't stand a 3bet if I xr.
I would call turn, fold river.

Think 3betting the flop is much better here.

I don't think villain will bluff raise this kind of board very much therefore feel hes very weighted towards good hands / decent draws over air as its a pretty good board from a BB defend point of view. We should always have atleast some draw / one pair+ hands so would imagine hes trying to (what he thinks is ) value town us / build a pot the vast majority.
Would imagine him to raise very good hands / draws / occasional air and just call bad one pair hands on this flop. By just calling flop its very easy to exploit us on bad runouts as trigg said before, this is proven by everyone who is saying they would call turn and fold brick rivers.
If we look at the benefits of 3b vs benefits of b/cing flop:
3betting:
- He can 4b/go with worse hands he thinks are the best hand e.g. AK / AA...etc
- He can 4b/go with draws which we're in pretty good shape vs
- Pot is much bigger by time we get to turn therefore if a brick hits and he continues to call turn we can go for value on almost any river (even clubs) and always expect to have the best hand.
- We cannot realistically be made to fold the best hand.
- We look pretty f strong if we bet/call.
b/cing:
- Keep in his air (which is rare. A lot of these airballs also pick up equity on the turn a lot of the time and check behind).

I like it, although "- We cannot realistically be made to fold the best hand." in 3b flop is a bit of a contradiction to "- We look pretty f strong if we bet/call." As by river if you b/c flop opponent is just going to check back AA AK possibly KQ type hands anyway.
