Even remember BBC ceefax page number!!

Page 312 was my favourite, football news in brief. Had everything from pretty big injury news to top flight players to non league team has sold its away allocation for a local derby.

Being drawn against 'crack East European sides in the UEFA Cup'.

Yes, it's a bit sad really.

Steaua Bucharest, Levski Sofia, Widzew Lodz were all really big clubs back in the day.

My personal favourites were Red Star Belgrade on who I right touch when they won the European Cup.

Definitely this.  I also remember the comms sounded all echoey due to the really communication systems in Eastern Europe.

Midweek sports special and then Saint and Greavsie on a Saturday.

Definitely miss taping Midweek Sports Special on the betamax though and watching it quickly before heading off to school and then a second viewing at 5pm when I got home.

Haha - I remember I'd check it before bed and get excited if it had 8 pages instead of 7 because that meant there was an update.  You'd then find it was just that a Simod Cup match had been moved from a Weds to a Tues.

Yes, & it seemed to take an age to rotate back to the page we wanted. Which we'd miss, then have to wait again.

Another one - teams having the same kit for up to 3 seasons in a row sometimes.

Also I'm sure in the old days if there was the mass handbags the keepers used to run out and get involved, often being the worst offenders (eg Tony Coton).  Now they always just seem to stay in goal.

Here is a big one for me:

Different types of goal nets.  You could always tell instantly where the game was being played due to different colour or different styles of goal nets.  It might be the blue of Goodison Park, or the weird shallow nets of the Dell or Upton Park.    Or odd supporting structures like White Hart Lane/Highbury.  Then in a World Cup all the Argentinian nets would have the same style (with odd black stripes at the bottom of the goal posts?) or Mexico had those nets that went so far back that you could park a team coach inside.

Now all the goal nets all round the world look identical.  I don't know why this bothers me, but it really does.
