So Jake was asking me to explain time this morning

Was mulling over what I would say generally in your shoes and I would be lazy and just say to him, if indeed he is learning how to read the time rather than having general questions about it, that whatever the small hand is on, name that number first and explain the numbers on the clock are for saying the first part of the time only.

Then for the second hand, if your clock has 5 little increments between each number, between 12 and 1, for example, explain that each of those account for the second number when you are reading the time, and that from 12-1, 1-2, 3-4, you are just adding five onto it, with 12 the start and once you get back around you start again, with 59 being the biggest number of minutes you can get before starting the hour.

The first number equals the hour and the second one the minutes.

Not quite sure why i have written out a blow for blow but i have and it isn't going to waste and I am only just realising that Jake can probably read the time but he just had questions about it! I will leave this up for the embarrassment, I don't care

Dave Allen is a big favourite of my Gran, both Irish helped, saw she had a DVD collection of his work. Going from that clip will need to watch it with her.

I read that 17 times & I still don't understand it.
