Staking Opp - Is my friend nuts?

Local 2 day comp coming up, with low buy in £220. Should see 25-40k prizepool.
There have been freerolls (in reality free start stack, tenner rebuy jobbies) running for a while. Quite a lot have won them and then sold them on at low cost. Anyway my mate is usually a good cash player, but has been away from the game for a few months. He rarely plays tourneys, has no results.
Anyway somebody has offered to put him in the comp in a 60:40 deal in HIS favour!!!!
He's talking about turning it down, as he couldn't stand to give away 40% of any monies.
I've been trying to educate him on just what a mark up this actually represents, to no avail. Is it just me or is he completely insane?
Would anyone else turn down this deal?

Me? No.
Dubai? Probably.
Any player who cant afford to play the comp takes the opportunity though.

obviously a very good deal. I've given people 60:40 in my favor before and been told it's very generous.
Doesn't necessarily mean he's a lunatic for turning it down though

If I was flush at the time I would turn it down. if I was broke I would snap his dick off.
If £200 means nothing to him then I can't blame him for not wanting to give 40% away.

If he's not going to play it because of the cost then taking it makes sense. If he wants to play it anyway and someone has offered the money, then turning it down makes sense. I do this for sure, especially for a one off event.
If he's offered staking into a series of £220 events, then I'd take the deal, but for a one off that I was going to play anyway I'd pass.

I'd take that to play the £500 deepstack this weekend
