Have a think about different BR strategies with low stakes PLO maybe? I get bored online super easy so I just short stack these and move up levels min buying each time. It's a spin but that's what you want paying that rake.
One of the advantages of ss PLO is that better players will actually avoid playing pots with you due to lack of value. This is exactly what you want. You can even do a martingale sort of staking plan up and down the levels. It's not classy PLO but is profitable (sober). Hic.
Good advice Gouty. rather than cutting your teeth at .05/.10 PLO think about 40bb in .50/1 or something - or you could just 1 table .50/1 with a full stack and REALLY think about each hand properly. You'll run into a much better stnd of players in average, without being world beaters and you'll get a much better understanding for low.mid-stakes which will cut your learning process in half when you go to 1/2 and 2/4 and your progression up the stakes will be a hell of a lot quicker.
I'd suggest a bankroll of about $1,000 - $1,500 to do that and if you chose a site like ipoker with a good RB deal that would be good for you as well, also the stnd might be a little lower on ipoker (although I don't think that's a massive issue)
Treat it as a learning process and not a money-making endeavor to begin with, 1 table, 2 if you really need, and SUPER SUPER focus.
It's just so hard to really challenge yourself and hold focus when the buyin to the game is £7 and you frequently straddle to more than that in live poker games.
