So simple but so, so good. What you wrote is in fact so smart that I'm now thinking you deliberately lost the previous weeks just so you could pump the pool up. Optimum stategy Smiley

As said, I'm happy to punt whatever happens, but I'm glad that I know how easy it is now Cheesy

Might as well let me pick next week. Will take me 2 mins max and do it watching Saturday Morning Kitchen

Any objections?

Sounds good for a 2nd syndi?

FWIW... I've watched James Martin's show before, and despite Steve Jones' presence, I have to say I prefer Weekend Kitchen on C4.

Doobs everyone knows your strategy is spot on just a shame you had to waste even more time for 'free' tonight justifying it.  It was an amazing read though and everyone will realise now how lucky blonde is to have this input coupled with some proper horse judges.  You are right up there with the best maths minds in the game across poker and sports betting.

Please Adz can you just give it a rest now and accept your 'feel' strategy doesn't know best when it comes to winning this bet.

Big Sigh.

Thank you Doobs. I never for one minute doubted your numbers and a fascinating insight into the maths. I got 90% of what you said, and totally respect your ability in this field. Please crack on, as I have suggested several times. GL.

I will admit to the most amusing part of this was on Saturday watching the Morning Line, when they interviewed some long haired Welsh punter who got closest to landing the Scoop the prvious week when being the only the only ticket holder going into the last race with his single £2 line with his "feel" approach.

Arbboy. You really are a boring little toad. You fit wonderfully as the Forum Bully. I may not be as clever as you, but I have an opinion. If I were to abuse several members of the syndicates trust, I would post their PMs and show it is not just me, but I dont need to, and won't. The reason this thread went on so long is having to defend my right to have an opinion on how the money was spent each week, and continually asking why Doobs was putting words into my mouth, which he passed over on many occasions, but whatever, I'm never going to win this, because the Maths is right.

The minute bullies like you stop people like me posting a differing opinion to yours with your constant belittling "mr feel punter" is the minute that this Forum stops working. I KNOW several people feel the same. So please, can we put an end to it?

Adz, I think we are just not understanding each other at times.  I was probably taking what you were saying all wrong too.  So apologies if I have offended you and anyone else here.

There is space in all this for horse selection skills.  If we include a couple of 16/1 chances over 12/1 ones we aren't making huge maths mistakes.  It is OK to include a couple of 20/1 horses if the rest of the perm is really tight and so on.

Having sound fundamentals and very good horse picking skills on board is going to put you so far ahead of Mr Aversge and that is where I think we are.

Even with all this on board we are still likely hundreds to one to win next week.  Hopefully one week we'll scoop a bunch of place dividends to make up for it.

Guys you may as well forget it this week, I'm organising a syndicate at work and the girls are picking the horses based on the pretty colours and names so I think we're winning it.

Such a good post by Doobs, maybe the best ever I've seen here.

 Couple of other Scoop points...

Some weeks it really isn't worth playing. Last week two syndicates that I'm involved in didn't put in a penny while the week before they put in a massive lump. Obviously on the weeks when it's 1/2 to go it's good to invest and when it's just evens it's not so great. It's tricky here as people send money early in the week and some people just fancy a gamble for their tenner or fifty.

You can definitely benefit from horse knowledge. Sometimes you are considering whether to have three in a race, just one banker or five picks. If you consider the 2/1 favourite very strong and don't fancy the 4/1 2nd favourite you may be best to go banker rather than take a couple of 10/1 shots with the favourite. Use the horses you've saved to have more runners in a later race. If you hate the front two in a race but it's 2/1 and 4/1 with 10/1 bar you probably should still pick them but you can take 4 in the race and pray that one of the 10/1 shots win. In the last leg last week (the massive field Victoria Cup) many syndicates would have 9 selections and many small recreational perms either 3, 4 or 5. With the favourite at 10/1 and a couple of horses at 12/1 many people would pick a 14/1 chance for their fourth or fifth selection. In this bet it is way better to pick a 25/1 shot here. You aren't giving yourself a much worse chance of winning (difference between 14/1 and 25/1 is minor) but you possibly end up on a horse with half or even less tickets on than you would with the 14/1 chance.

Knowing which horses are likely to drift and which will be backed is great in tote bets. If you see a horse with OPF as it's form figures get backed from 10/1 into 7/1 you should put it in your Tote bet rather than a horse that goes 9/2 out to 7/1 with form figures of 112 as maybe half the number of people will have that selection.

At the end of the day, even though I KNOW 100% that Doobs gets the correct strategy of this bet the chances are he won't prove that by winning it and there is a really good chance that a bloke from Wales who watches his 25/1 chance in the last on teletext 2 hours after the race is run while he watches the snooker on BBC2 gets the lot.

Jamie Gold won the WSOP but I still think Phil Ivey was the favourite that year.
