No problem...
Diana was misjudged. She did care, I know that. I worked for a charity she did an awful lot for, and there was never any recognition.
It wasn't a politically correct charity, yet it did very good work. It didn't stop her doing work for it.
Noo MIB darling

I remember the day she died. I was supposed to be going to watch an F1 test session at Silverstone. I had won a magazine competion, but it was cancelled. That will always stick in my mind.
I don't want to start a " should we have the Royals " debate, but I just can't understand why people like them. I am not criticising honestly. But please can someone who does love them try and explain to me why they support them. The royals are just people, but I see people on the news standing in the rain for hours just to see a hand wave from a car. It baffles me to be perfectly honest.
I like myself to much to hero worship someone else. Don't get me wrong, I have huge respect for a number of people. Lance Armstrong, Hermain Maier, animal charities organisers, researchers who work for peanuts in an attempt to find life threatening illnesses. These are people who I admire. I just can't look at the Royals that way.
There are countless people who see the Royals are Gods. It is almost as if they feel lesser than another person just because they have the title "Queen" or "Prince". Why is this?
Honestly I am not having a go at anyone. If you do idolise the Royals, ok that is your view. I respect you for your beliefs. But please explain why?

I don't idolise the royals.
I know she was over-hyped to a huge extent, especially for the first couple of years after her death. I just think Diana was a decent lady who did a fair bit up and above the call of duty for charidee etc.
I just find it sad that she is remembered for the hoo-hah at her funeral and afterwards and not for the good works she did while she was alive. I'd like to think that you could respect the lady without people thinking you're some sort of nutter who pretends that they knew her and believes her to be some sort of Saint.
It just seems everybody wants to put you people in a box on this issue. You have to either love her or hate her. I just think she was allright, and dislike ill being spoken of the dead.

I also remember the day she died...............I am sorry that F1 was cancelled due to that fact..I personally have NEVER supported the Royals...I have never understood anyone who thinks "Royals" or anyone whome thinks they have higher ratings(this includes pokerplayers) think they are rated above anyone of us so called average people.I personaly do not suck up to anyone.BUT i do feel that sometimes people are let down by what they try to acheaive....

Hey Tank, I wasn't meaning anyone was a nutter. Sorry if it came across like that. I just wanted to try and get a clearer picture in my mind why people feel so protective over a bunch of strangers.
Nun, I am not sad that my F1 was cancelled. Someone having an accident like she did is more important. But the two things together will always stick in my mind. I just can't help but think, there are many people who go about their daily lifes. They have familiy comitments like the rest of us, they have work like the rest of us, but they also find the time to fund rasie and give up their time to help others. These are people that will never be rewarded for their efforts. Diana was in a priviliged position there is no doubting that, so perhaps she was in a better position to give time to help her various charities. Afterall she didn't have a job or family to take up her time. Servants and Nannys.
Charity of course isn't a competition. Just because the unknown guy will never be recognised for his efforts. This does not make him a better charity worker than Diana was. I am not suggesting that. I admire her for her work. But when she visited the war torn areas of the world , I can guarnatee she continued to live in the lap of luxuary. It may have been a less upsetting experience for her as she could dis-associate herself from that environment back at her beutiful hotel.
A man that gives up three nights a week to go to the local soup kitchen earns my respect far more. He is an unknown hero in my eyes.
Diana may have been a good lady. But lets not forget. She was an extreamly rich lady.

Wasn't Lance Armstrong caught taking performance enhancing drugs?

It's only a whale for fxxk's sake, don't you think we are getting carried away with this Diana stuff?
p.s. I actually like Whale's and totally disagree with their demise... but that's another story.

lol...Its cool Decider, this is just a friendly discussion.
No...not Armstrong. I fully believe him when he says he is inocent. He has never failed a drugs test. The French have it in for him as they are angry that he has won their event 7 times. I think his case is going to court. There really is no case, it is their word against his. He has nothing to prove, 7 wins and no failed drug tests.

Was the F1 test cancelled as a mark of respect or a protest at how her car was driven?

In the meantime, I doubled my pokerstars account money tonight... granted, it wasn't big to start with, but heh, I'm happy... Joined a cash game for 20 mins and got dealt KK 3 hands in, tripled up, then dealt AA and doubled up :-)
