*Probably not.

Roll up, roll up folks, it's RSQ time again. Entries are being taken until 8pm 17.06.2014 and the reveal will be announced thereafter, but will probably be on 19.06.14 at 8pm.

There are ELEVEN questions. You must answer TEN of them and pass on one. You will score zero for the question you pass. You may not pass question 11.

Your score for each question is the number of people who give the same correct answer. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep. If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score +5.

Entries by PM please and include RSQ is in the subject line.

If you fail to put your answers on a single line without question numbering, you will receive a penalty score equal to the highest score given to an incorrect answer in the entire quiz +1.

For example,

This
Is
Correct

1. This
2. Is 3.Not
4. See?

You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers.

In the course of the reveal, objections will be considered. In the event that I don't agree with the objection, I will randomly telephone anyone in my phonebook and ask them for arbitration.

Thinks that's just about covered everything. On with the questions!

=======================================================================================================================

QUESTION 1
There were some elections recently in which this man did rather better than expected and caused, he says, 'an earthquake'.

At a European level, most national parties MEPs band together to form European Political Parties. Name one.

QUESTION 2
I love books. I love prizes. So you can imagine how I feel about the Man Booker Prize.

Give me any winner of the Man Booker Prize since 1980.

QUESTION 3
A Man walks into a bar and says to the barman, 'I'll have ten times what he's having', to which the barman replies 'oh lord, not only is this a terrible joke, but that's an order of magnitude!'  Give me the name of the prefix of any order of magnitude in any direction. For example, I am mulhuzz. If you had 1000 of us, we might be a Kilohuzz.

QUESTION 4
This man died last week. Genuis doesn't even cut it, and he was rather prolific. Can you name any Television Show in which Rik Mayall has an acting credit?

QUESTION 5
With each passing day, I spend more and more time on the internet. Can you give me the name of any of the most visited 25 websites in the World, as measured by Alexa.com in February 2014? If you do not specify a TLD for your answer, I will assume .com.

QUESTION 6
The church is a mildly intersting thing, especially because of the hats. Give me the Papal Name of any Pope.

QUESTION 7
I'm sat in my house and a passing Metro-train just shook the house a little. Can you tell me a station it might be headed to, or from?

QUESTION 8:
Nirvana are the most overrated band of all time, after the Beatles. Give me the name of any track featured on this 'seminal' album:

QUESTION 9:
Animal Conservation and Biodiversity is an important topic. Experts suggest that the current extinction rate is between 1000 and 10000 times higher than the 'natural' extinction rate. So can you name any animal which, according to the WWF, is currently classified as 'critically endangered', or 'endangered'.

QUESTION 10:
I speak a couple of languages and would like to learn more, particularly those which would help me communicate with the largest number of people in the world. So can you name any of the top 10 most widely spoken languages in the world by number of speakers.

QUESTION 11:
Give any answer given by another participant in this quiz, for any question, including this one.

Just to clarify

I could guess and hope I get a correct answer for 1 and 5
No idea 2 or 8 and 7 unless that is a map and I can use one of them I wouldn't have a clue

Good luck with quiz but I will have to pull out

Superb Quiz, Mully, but I shall refrain from entrering in protest at this......

Nirvana are the most overrated band of all time, after the Beatles

The Beatles overrated?

Say that again, & you get a Red Card.

An outrageous thing to say.

7 is indeed a map and all stations on that map are valid answers.

I realise that 2 and 8 are quite narrow questions, but thought it was quite unlikely that someone wouldn't be able to punt at least one and pass another if they needed to - I'm open to changing the questions if people think they are too hard.

@tikay: apologies, thought that might induce a reaction Wink I actually like the Beatles, just, it seems, not as much as the rest of the world Wink

some feedback

very very tough indeed, and likely to put people off entering

particularly inappropriate for a generalist quiz, Q 1 and 2

remainder are guessable, except nirvana. either know that or you don't.

will of course enter, but wouldn't expect a bumper edition sadly

I'm with you on Q1 (pretty sure I've got that wrong), but most people know at least one or two booker prize winners, surely?

think you'd be surprised

last time we had the question, 67.3% of the contestants passed it

not so easy to pass it in this one

It's not meant to be about knowing one or two answers for a question, it's about being able to give at least half a dozen, and trying to pick the best one.
