Do you ever use this question? What do you expect a yes to mean, or a no? Does the skill of the player you ask make a difference to your expectation?

Sometimes, if I've already made my decision and I'm fishing for a reaction/possible show etc. So the answer doesn't really matter.

It's a very useful tool in the right hands, as with many of these little comments.

You have to know what you're looking for and that means having a reasonable grasp of how your opponent would react if they were telling the truth and if they were lying.

Without that, you might as well not bother.

I reckon it's a pointless question most of the time by most, they are gonna fold anyway and it's part of the Hollywood dwell.

Its a nice information freeroll, sometimes it will help your current decision, if he reacts in an unusual manner and other times he will help improve your future decisions. Best of all, sometimes its both!

Certainly has some utility. And as has been suggested already if you are aware of what certain responses may indicate then this or any other question should not be pointless unless you actually are a tard.
