I need an opinion from those of you who have a GoPro camera, or a similar product. I plan on doing a lot of travelling over the next few years and a good camera is a must, especially when I plan on doing scuba diving, sky dives etc. But are GoPro's worth the hefty price tag which come with them?

I was thinking of getting the Hero 3 black edition, which is the most expensive, but before I fork out the cash thought I would ask for your opinions- any would be welcome Smiley

Thanks

They seem pretty decent (having viewed a few Youtube clips).  An alternative would be the Drift Ghost HD.  Perhaps there's a comparison of the two about somewhere?

I've read a couple of online reviews of a few different models but thought it would be good to get some good honest information from somebody on here. Thanks for suggesting the drift ghost as well

Buy one second hand. I was astonished how cheap they are.

Have the 3 hero black. It's incredible and absolute snap purchase if you are travelling for a while.

Would suggest getting the 3+ though as the low light transition is pretty impressive and the wifi is a lot faster. Also I believe the battery is better.

Think I'm going to upgrade one of my cameras soon. As someone that doesn't ski or do much in the way of sports these cameras are used for a lot, they seem a waste of time for me or am I missing a trick here?

Yeah not much point unless you are trying to capture action. Unless you want a really small camera.

Yeah it seems like they're really used for action sports mainly. It seems like, unless a new model came out after buying a second hand one, you could pretty much get most of your money back if you sold it on.
