My mate has Fowler on the back of his City shirt and he was threatening to set it on fire as it is no use now. I suggested buying a new one with Barton on the back as Barton is City through and through.
Cue the latest news:
Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton has stunned the club by handing in a transfer request.

One of the finest natural finishers the game hads known.
Until Houllier got hold of him.
Im a Man Utd fan and I obviously dont like the 'Pool very much.....but as regards Robbie its a bloody shame as he WAS a superb striker and those lost years without him hurt our national team a great deal.
He will walk into the liverpool team as their strike force is just terrible IMO.
Good point Jim. Houllier wasted one of the finest finishing talents we've ever had.
I find it amusing that some of you think that either Houllier wasted Robbie Fowler or that he was the greatest english striker since Jimmy Greaves. The only reason that Robbie Fowler didn't get into the Liverpool team was because they use to have Englands greatest ever striker in his place and his name is Michael Owen. If Michael Owen was still at Anfield, do you honestly think that Robbie would be "coming home"?

Whilst the statement about Fowler not playing because of Owen holds some truth, wouldn't you have dropped Heskey?
In their youth's Fowler had more potential than Owen. It wasn't nurtured but the potential was definately there.

You cannot blame his talent not being nurtured, Owen came along, took his place and that was that.

No, that was part of it I admit, but also Heskey was bought and Fowler (who has a better goals tally than Owen for LFC) was dropped because Houllier hated him. His peak years from 26 to 30 were not with Liverpool and his heart went.
Under Ferguson, Wenger, Benitez or Mourinho he would have been amazing.

Jol as well
.
He is your childhood hero, so your views are somewhat tarnished. Fowler was good in the mid 90's, during his "peak years" he lost heart, gained weight and took drugs. I agree that he was a good striker, but he wasn't/isn't in the world class category, which Owen is. Houllier liked the big/little striker combination that meant either Heskey and Owen and if Owen was injured Fowler would get a game. Obviously, my views on Heskey is that he is a useless sack of shit, but he won more balls in the air than Fowler(for Owen to run onto) and he played better with Owen than Fowler. It's very similar to the situation at Spurs with Keane and Defoe.
I can't see Keane singing a new contract at Spurs (which runs out in the summer) I would play Defoe in front of Keane every game, but they have dropped him. The Spurs board/Jol think that by playing Keane they are trying to entice him into signing a new contract by saying " look you're No1 striker" but Keane knows that Defoe is number one and he is actually playing for a transfer, not trying to cement his place as 1st choice at Spurs.

Fowler still boasts 20 odd more goals for LFC than Owen.
He also broke Rush's fastest to 100 goals record and he's only one off being level with King Kenny.
Kuyt to LFC!

What drugs did he take? I have googled but can't find anything to support your statement.
For example-
Quote
Fowler says that he has been tested for drugs use every year since he came into the game and has nothing to hide. 'Let me say now, once and for all, that the stories are not true. Not now, not then, not ever. It is an insult to me, and an insult to me mum and dad

1 Fowler never took drugs. He actually said in a interview that some one in his family died from drug abuse, which affected him deeply and has never used them.I hope your not refering to the snorting the line goal celebration.
2 Fowler is not world class? Owen is?..Now I dont know you Nemesis,i dont know if you ever played foot ball , or how much you watch it., so I dont know where you understanding of football comes from.
But...Fowler was world class. The most natural goal scorer of his generation. He has the kind of natural timing that comes along every 20 years. And he was what he was being a slow fucker, somehting that makes his achievements even more remarkable.
Owen is not world class.never has been, never will be.His finishing skills come from hours on the training pitch, trying to improve. He is a manufactured finisher(a bit like beckham, another grinder, altho beckham was world class on the right wing at Man u), anyone who saw Owen is his early days could see this.Owen has 2 things going for him,his mental focus and his speed.Without his speed he would be nothing. In fact every time owen gets the ball out side the box and has to "play real" football i feel embarrased for him.VanBasten was world class, owen is no where near that level.

Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady has been told unless she has a huge clot removed she could die.
Emile Heskey has been placed on the transfer list.

By all accounts it has been detected VERY early and although they postponed the op yesterday she should have it today and they reckon it is a formality.
I hope she recovers as do all Bluenoses because she really has worked wonders for us financially, turned the club into profit in an incredibly short space of time.
