I just bought a cheap small laptop for carrying about, going on weekend breaks.  It's windows 8 and absolutely everything is linked to ms outlook onedrive IE - I couldn't get anything started without logging in with an outlook account.  

Where are the settings?  The control panel etc?

Charms ffs its a fucking computer not a fairy story. 

How do MS get away with it?  They got fined for anti-competitive behaviour and can still somehow sell an OS that is completely linked with an outlook/one drive set up.  One the defaults was every doc/pic/vid auto-saved to one drive!

Once you get used to it (and set options such as opening to the desktop) I don't think Win 8 is that much different to previous windows.

Definitely worse, but not that much worse. As long as the next version does as promised and adapts depending on what your input method is then I think there'll be a general forward momentum with windows improving overall.

Yeah before 8.1 when you had to install a third party program to get the desktop it was kinda annoying but after that it seems fine, wouldn't say its any worse than windows 7 performance wise
