I appreciate this is all personal taste, but Iam going to moninate some people who when i watch them leave me stony-faced, scratching my head, wondering why people are laughing

you can try to convince me otherwise, or add nominations of your own....

exhibit one.

Just deeply unfunny

exhibit two

I appreciate this is a character, but the TV show makes me want to poke my eyes out with knitting needles . Even worse, i co-habit with someone who finds it hilarious

exhibit three

Began to believe his own publicity towards the end of his mock the week run, now just deeply unfunny, often overly offensive for the sake of it and just annoying

over to you

Spot on

Saw him "live" in Brighton with an ex.

Crowd laughing before he even came on stage must be hell of an advantage as funny as piles

Actually less funny

Interestingly, someone bought me tickets for Xmas to see Lee Evans because my step brothers liked him.  Not being one to turn my nose up at a free night out, I went and I don't think I've laughed so much at a stand up.  Still can't stand watching him on telly though.

Russell Brand and Frankie Boyle in my top 10 favourite comedians though.

McIntyre abso tezz.  Imo ofc.

Oh, I saw Kevin Bridges live too and he was dog shit.

All of them.  I just don't get the whole manufactured set piece funny sketches thing.  The best comedy is always unintentional, and it always happens in the course of real life.

Almost everyone who appears on Live at The Apollo, any TV panel comedy show, etc.

If I have to plump for one just now it's Lee Mack.  It's almost as if his jokes are quick and quippy but seriously lack humour, if that makes sense.  I can't warm to him at all.

I'd much rather see a thread on decent comedians woth watching.

I've particularly liked two recently: Reggie Watts and Marcel Leconte.

I got offered a second stand-up gig myself two days ago, but I've turned it down.  Location, time, length of spot, - none of it amounts to there being much in it for me.  My comedy is not easy either.  I'm not being pretentious with that.  It's not high brow or anything.  It's more that the jokes are for me.  Odd approach you might say.  Odd bloke I say.

I like Lee Evans and Russell Brand.

Frankie Boyle developed into a sort of early 90s alternative comedian over his MTW stint, where the comedy was in its shock, rather than in the humour itself. To call him a stand up is kind of missing the point. Not my cup of tea, but I can "get" what he's doing.

Agree on the others.

Mrs Brown's Boys is passé and dated in concept, woefully stilted in application, yet somehow wins awards and plaudits from critics and fans alike. The chap at the helm should have wrapped it up years ago. It is basically complete and utter Arsenal.

Micky Flanagan's success is baffling, absolutely baffling. He delivers weak material poorly.

John Bishop exactly the same - just terrible.

Michael McIntyre I'm going to defend - even if his style of comedy is not to your taste, he can deliver a joke and his exuberance on stage works well, he is an engaging performer.

Also, Mrs Brown - essentially old music hall jokes with added swearing but each episode will give me a good couple of belly laughs. It's like a pantomime - even if you can see the punchline coming a mile away the sheer force of delivery can be hilarious.

Saw Mark Thomas earlier this year, after being a fan for over a decade.  Excellent.  Back to his activism roots, bot preachy with it, and reminds you what a good stand-up he is in spite of him not really delivering a stand-up routine.

Also saw, Paul Chowdhry.  Wasn't expecting lots, but found myself laughing despite not being that into much of his material.  I guess the ocassion of being there and he is a funny bloke naturally I think, despite material being a bit weak.  Had it's moments in that element though for sure.
