Michael McIntyre I'm going to defend - even if his style of comedy is not to your taste, he can deliver a joke and his exuberance on stage works well, he is an engaging performer.

Generally shite, but I did enjoy seeing his first DVD a few Xmases ago now.  Again, sometimes you can just be in the mood.  Saw him in Jongleurs, Edinburgh before TV famous and did a good set - first-half delivered in a broad Glaswegian accent and all about the Scots, before reverting to his own persona.

Worst ever live comedy gig - Peter Kay.  People laughing so hard it was literally unreal.  You know the old glance at your mate, throw back of the head, slap of the thigh, tears.  Weird.

As to my own personal unfavourites, right at the top of the list is Noel Fielding. Dressing like a low-rent Russell Brand is not a career. He's only ever done The Mighty Boosh and that was shit and he's now made Buzzcocks unwatchable.

He's not really a TV comedian but Robin Ince is a nightmare as well - does his best to ruin the Infinite Monkey Cage with his sneering, hectoring, 'I'm so clever because I've read some books'.

Favourites on TV are The Alternative Comedy Experience & Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle.

Can't think of anything else I can stand to watch.  Dave Gorman has some decent stuff usually.

Agree with Noel Fielding, just don't get why people like him.

Pains me to say it but Vic Reeves and Bob are a bit cringe these days.  Used to enjoy them when they first started but these days it's outdated.

This thread just serves to highlight how subjective the whole thing is.

Some are well observed, deserving choices that I totally agree with, others are just the foolish, misguided blatherings of people who's opinions don't matter anyway. Often, both examples are in the same post.

This.

Also how does this get to two pages before anyone mentions Sarah Millican  dreadful.

Recently saw Paul Foot - strangest gig ever as a member of the audience leapt on stage and stole all his props, and ran out of the building - he coped very well.

The new Jim Jefferies special "bare" is proper stand up (available on You tube) - best thing I have seen since the last time I saw Saddowitz.

Chelsea Handlers new special on net flix is "interesting" too - can't decide if I like it or not, it makes me laugh so that's a start.  Ladies doing very blue routines I find difficult for some reason.

I can't really think of anyone that I think is really shit, but I don't actually watch any comedians now.

The last 'Live at' DVD I watched watched, was one of Jimmy Carr's, and I think he is excellent.

No that's Mrs Doubtfire.

She's from the North East.
