Yeah, it's good fun.  One of those things that you get as much out of it as you put into it.

This is what I posted elsewhere Tom.

Weight lost

It was after my Aug holiday that I decided to do a little something about my expanding waist line; it had been growing bit by bit over probably more years than I realised.  Any way tape measure out let’s look at the damage and do something about it.

Scores on the doors, 40” waist and 12 stone 3lb on a 5’ 6 “frame, kind of biscuit barrel shape.  My ideal weight I guessed should be 11 stone and waist… god knows.

Out of the door went sugar in my tea, no beer, smaller portions, no snacking/grazing.  Started jogging and did a few sit ups and the like also bought a second hand cycling machine and a second hand elliptical thingy.   By mid-October i had lost 1 stone 4 lb (to 10 Stone 13Lb) and 4” off my waist.  My wife was supposed to be participating but was not overly enthusiastic and therefore not really giving it her all. She hates all form of exercise but loves watching every sport under the sun.

So I had reached my target and was more interested in getting the good lady to do a bit.

Insanity

My son had been going on about this programme literally for ever, always with his head in the cloud thinking that 9 weeks graft could give him the Arnie body. Long story short he bought his friends unused copy and I agreed to do it with him.  I recognised that a bit of toning was what I needed next.
Fast forward he lasted a week and my good lady became my training partner  we both completed the whole 9 weeks never missing one session and it was so hard it beggars belief.  I know very few finish this programme and fewer still without missing sessions.  You need to demonstrate a commitment that so many think they can but, “when the going gets tough”...

My wife is superwoman, 6 days a week exercising for 9 weeks, working so hard that you are in a puddle of sweat and on the edge of vomiting at almost every session. She demonstrated what can be done with will power.

I lost a further 4 lb and another 2” off my waist, Jan lost 12lb in total and 3” off her waist.

Next

Relax for a couple of days, and then back on it. During this phase I was directed to “parkrun” events and am going to continue competing in those.  I have my eye on the age group record.  I clearly do not need to lose any more weight (10stone 9lb now) But Jan has a bit more work to do.  So going to be swimming, kettle bell routine, exercise biking and maybe do Insanity again but over a much longer period. Train 4/5 times a week is the plan.

Any questions fire away.
