AK BB pre/post bet sizing
«

Back to live poker after a LONG break and trying to get my eye back in at an affordable level in the mid-week £25s at DTD, I'm all over the place with my bet sizing and starting to second guess myself in pretty much every hand I play. Time to start getting a grip on it
In this hand, we're only level 3 so it's 200/100/25
Table is very loose/passive and only a couple of players at the table are paying any attention to action/opponents. most are away with the fairies. It's 4-5 handed most flops, and we're seeing most rivers. people showing all kinds of junk.
Anyone paying any attention would see I'd been pretty quiet so far, although I had just won the previous hand. I had raised UTG with QQ, there was a 3 bet which called in two spots, I four bet quite big and picked it up. This got attention of a few players that weren't previously paying much attention.
So, next hand.
No especially big/small stacks involved.
I'm seat 6
seat 7 min raises to 400
seat 8 fold
seat 9 call
seat 1 call
seat 2 fold
seat 3 call
seat 4 (Button) fold
Seat 5 (SB) call
I look at
I haven't been counting exactly (lazy, must try harder) but quick guestimate there's about 2k out there. There's actually 2425.
Opinions on my raise there?

seat 7 has been min raising as standard BTW. Young chap and one of the few paying any attention. Been picking off a few of the numptys who aren't.

Was just gonna say pot it about 2.5k pre, although peeling would be interesting.
Now i'd bet tiny, like 3k

initial thought was 3-3.5k pre. Now you've made it 2.2, so pot is like 11k? I'd bet 5/6k, maybe smaller depending on SPR, but not a lot

I had 16/17k, and as I say, everyone else give or take average still. Only bigger stack is seat 2 who folded pre.
What's the thinking with the 3k on the flop?
There's 11625
Isn't it either just going to call round or get raised and put me in a sick spot?

What's sick about getting raised?
If he's got 66 then fine (and you can still win) but apart from that you have the board pretty locked and you don't want Ax and Kx to fold to a single bet.
The point of betting small is to get value from these hands or maybe induce. To me thoughts of folding from here on in seem a bit unlikely.

ok, assuming we go 3k on the flop, lets say seat 9 calls and it folds round
what do you do with a
on the turn?

Bet again, sizing dependant on what the effective stack size left is

6k flop, jam turn. Simples. I'm not betting tiny, because i want to make people pay for making bad calls. People aren't going to fold Ax to 1 bet, but they might to 2, so may as well go for a decent size on the flop barrel. You may well still get people flicking in a call with TJdd or JQdd kinda stuff, which is great for us if they're calling 6k.
If we bet 3k villains are pretty much getting the right price to flick it in with gutshot/bdfd kinda hands not forgetting giving actual flush draws an insanely great price on a peel. Pretty happy to just go for a 2-street strat in this spot, getting too tricky with small sizings live is basically bad imo.
