That old saying that with 6 degrees of separation you can get to anybody on the planet.
Am I right in thinking that if I know someone that is 1 degree of separation, and if they know someone that i don't know that person is 2 degrees of separation?
If so I have 2 degrees of separation from Barack Obama. Which I thought was pretty cool. Therefore you lovely lot have maximum of 3 from Barack!
If you could give me your "cool" I know someone who knows someone stories then I can add to my list!

I love this concept. I used to play the 'six degrees of kevin bacon' game at work where you try and link two actors based on films they have worked on.
So for example someone would say 'Brad Pitt' and 'Steve Martin'. And you would say Brad Pitt was in Friends with Jennifer Aniston, who was also in Friends with Alec Baldwin, who was in 30 Rock with Steve Martin.
This was a pre-internet/IMDB game.
Christ I'm a nerd.

I am 1 step from Stephen Fry and thus two from Sir Tony Robinson.
The modern version in these parts seems to be 5 Steps from Jesus, a popular game in our office.
You should be able to get from any Wiki page to the Jesus page within 5 links.

I used to work with someone whose mother taught Reg Dwight (Elton John) to play the piano. Does that help? P.S. Can someone please correct the spelling in the title. I know that tikay spells it incorrectly every time but the rest of us shouldn't sink to those depths.

David Prowse, who was the actor who played Darth Vader, was a friend of my Dad's and I had my photo taken with him when I about 7 years old.
That means everyone here is only a maximum of 3 degrees of separation from Princess Leia.

Actually, pick any famous sports-person, and everyone on here is only separated by a maximum of two degrees of separation from them as Ian Gascoigne will have met them and had a photo taken with them.

I'm only 2 away from Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day, which I suppose makes me 3 away from huge a huge selection of the alternative music world. I'm friends with a young band from Grantham called Matt Grocott and the Shrives (well, the Shrives actually. I don't know Matt) and they recorded their debut EP in America, produced by Billie Joe and featuring his son, Joey Armstrong on drums. About 20 years too late for me to make use of a connection as good as that to get to be a famous rock star myself (plus of course, these lads were in nappies 20 years ago) Give them a listen https://www.facebook.com/mattgrocottmusic

I stalked hung out with Mark Wahlberg for a week or so in the Funky Bunch days. That's one degree for a lot of Hollywood now.
