No way do they know exactly how many peas were sold. There's never an exact number of peas per packet, surely?!

I would guess they measure total sales by weight. They know how much an average pea weighs, & extrapolate it from there.

I get that, but it's still a guess. A pea doesn't weigh the same as the next pea. They're not making widgets.
