Jason Day the golfer.

Lebron gave Day's missus a right good seeing to , so much she had to have a neck brace fitted. Grin

She got took away on a stretcher with the crowd clapping. Don't really understand why people clap
when someone has got injured.

Clouds of smoke and steam billow from chimney stacks as a man pulls a trolley through a neighbourhood next to a coal fired power plant in Shanxi, China. Photographer Kevin Frayer visited the heavily polluted area to document life in a region that is the leading producer of coal in China with an annual coal production exceeding 300 million metric tonnes.

Behave, George, behave.

Princes St for you on NYE?

A quiet one for me as it has been these past few years, Princes Street is for visitors, old school Edinburgers gather at the Tron.

Calton Hill has always been a great platform for viewing the Castle fireworks, however the council are closing it down due to health and safety, the excuse being poor lighting.

On the 30th they have a torchlight procession with fireworks on Calton Hill so don't understand why they don't just sell more torches next day for those who wish to take up a traditional viewpoint, Gatters and Claire joined me and Mrs Geo a couple of years back

The cynic in me says it's something to do with too few tickets sold for Princes Street this year

Is Calton Hill that sort of grassy mound or hill with those sort of derelict sticky up buildings on it? Pretty sure I walked up there once all the way from Balmoral Hotel.

Yep, as well as the "derelict"  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Monument_of_Scotland

there is also the Nelson Monument, who'd have thunk us Scots capable of honouring one of Englands greats eh.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Monument,_Edinburgh

A plaque above the entrance to the monument carries the following dedication:

"To the memory of Vice-Admiral Horatio Lord Viscount Nelson, and of the great victory of Trafalgar, too dearly purchased with his blood, the grateful citizens of Edinburgh have erected this monument: not to express their unavailing sorrow for his death; nor yet to celebrate this matchless glories of his life; but, by his noble example, to teach their sons to emulate what they admire, and, like him, when duty requires it, to die for their country."
