F**b**t Street? Smiley

Filbert Street saw its record attendance of 47,298 for the Fifth Round FA Cup tie, against Tottenham Hotspur, on 18 February 1928.
This game also saw many more spectators watch the match from the roof of the Filbert Street end

the photo became famous in stadia geekland for the image of the lady climbing the rope to get up onto the flooodlight

47,000+ was quite the crowd. even before the taylor report later capacity was 32,000 and 20,000 subsequently

of course behind are the terraced houses, the reason why the club eventually moved as 2 of 36 hpouseholders refused to be bought up by the club....

Just looked up on Wiki as not been to Leicester City games post Filbert (2002!). Is it still an undeveloped car park?, I was thinking it would be a delicious irony if they knocked down the old houses when they redeveloped the site. Smiley

student towerblock over part of the site

the rest was going to be developed but the banking crash halted the development, yet to be refunded

the terraced houses are intact

One of the teams is Derby County.

It's the only clue I am giving you.

When Fulham needed to win to go up didn't the Derby fans invade pitch right at end, was the match abandoned but the result stood ala Blackpool/Huddesrfield?

Fulham needed to win to go up

Derby needed a point to stay up

derby scored with 15 to go

there was a small pitch invasion

rest of match platyed out with fans just off the touchline

with 2 minutes left the ref blew for a foul. fans though it was the final whistle. pandemonium

game was not restarted, result stood

Malcolm Macdonald the fulham manager waged a campaign to get the game replayed, but failed. a year later they went down and he was sacked
