Awkward bet placement situation
«

I've found myself in a tough spot and could use some feedback.
On Friday I noticed Skybet were 11-10 about Peterborough finishing in the top half of League One. I'm a Posh fan and like to see them do well, so thought I'd avail myself by way of a chunky £150 bet.
The problem is I'm reliant on a friend to put bets on with this firm, but he was happy to place it. So I transferred the money and he confirmed the bet had been placed no problem. Job done.
It's a pleasure watching Posh win at the best of times but to know their beating Rochdale could help earn me a few quid made the drive home all the more sweet.
But then, this morning, my friend pinged me on Facebook to say that the bet hadn't gone through after all! That he'd logged in this morning to see a balance of £150.00!
After a moment's panic I thought, oh well, he'll probably lay the bet himself. It's just an honest mistake and it might cost him a few quid but that he'll realise it's the right thing to do.
This is where the problem starts. He seems to think that it's just a 'meh moment' and that sending me back the £150 is all he needs to do!
The price is now 8-13, so I'd need to put about £250 on to win the same amount! It somehow feels like I'm £100 out of pocket. What should I do please?

Which do you value more: £100 or your friendship?
That's what you're asking us to tell you.
(I'm assuming this isn't some form of level)

It's tough putting a monetary value on friendship but I'm almost certain it's under £100.

As long as he has never done this before on any bets he has put on for you then no way should he be standing the bet himself.

Take the £150 back, and don't worry about it, worst things happen

Asking him to lay the bet out of his own pocket seems way harsh if it was just an honest mistake.
Avoiding the hassle of having to sort out someone else to get your bets on has to factor into the equation too
Also if he's just doing you a favour (albeit a fairly regular one) and you tell him that he's gotta lay you the bet out of his own pocket, I'd imagine he's <1% to agree to do this so theres very little upside in that approach
The amount that you're out of pocket is surely way less than £100? You're out of pocket the difference between the true price before the game and the 11/10 offered

I think its gunna be one of those spots where if it was between two people that are pro bettors/are around gambling a lot then laying the bet out of his pocket is a reasonable compromise, but other people wouldn't even come close to seeing it that way and trying to explain that would be pretty futile.
Just the price of business when you've got less experienced people getting your bets on I guess

Think you've got to take the hit.
btw isn't it possible that the bet "didn't go through" because the price had changed or the bet ws limited?

I bet alot, my friends bet alot.
I place bets for them on sites they can't get on, and they place bets for me on sites I can't get on.
If they tell me that they made an error on a bet afterwards and that I they I wasn't going to get paid now I would not, in a million years, expect them to lay/pay me.
It sounds as if Chompy has trust issues here, maybe he thinks whoever put the bet on for him freerolled him for a week perhaps and now that person wants the 11/10 for themselves?
I trust my friends who put bets on for me and would never ask them to prove it - however IF this somehow were the case that Chompy has this in the back of his mind then surely asking to check his history in his account he was alleged to have placed it would put any trust issues to rest?
It's a genuine mistake, and if you are that concerned about it don't use this person for placing bets again.
The bet isn't even a winner yet! Basically you've just missed the price due to human error. Big deal.

Chompy is on a fishing expedition, because nobody can get £150 on with Sky!
