Frank Hayes. I only have one memory of him, which was seeing him on the telly with long blonde hair slashing away in the dark in some match that went on til about 9pm without lights. Not sure if it actually happened, but his name and that scenario has stuck in my head all these years, so I think it probably did.

Big Lancashire fan and was a big Hayes fanboy. Was part of a terrific Lancashire side , Wood ,Engineer , Pilling , Lloyd D , Lloyd C , Lever , Hughes , Simmons.  Extremely talented flair batsman in the same style as Gower ,Scored a century on England debut , but only played half a dozen more tests after getting pulverised in the series against the terrific West Indians .

The only late finishing match i can recall was the famous Gilette Cup semi final v Gloucestershire in early 70's.  David Hughes batted in near darkness , hitting 20 odd off an over (a rareity those days) to win the match.

Big big fan .  Hunter still touring at the age of 75.  Very talented and underated songwriter.

"Dudes" one of my alltime top ten singles. That intro  still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

He kickstarted the best evening of musicianship and performance I've experienced at a festival. Friday evening at Wychwood 2007. Ian Hunter, followed by Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3, topped off by The Levellers with a guest appearance from Three Daft Monkeys joining them for The Devil Went Down. To Georgia to round it off.
Ian Hunter though, great stuff, including Dudes and Roll Away the Stone and so much more.

First band I ever saw at Victoria Hall Hanley, S-O-T. First Album I bought was Brain Capers. I like the earlier stuff on Island records.

One of my fave tracks. Listen to the lyrics, still relevant today.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyqiI8C6AnY&list=PLDMrTH2lBv4rZrN_6mu69KfpCF1tokuIe

If you ever come across Hunters  Diary of a Rock'n'Roll Star , do yourself a favour and buy it.  Real warts and all account of life on the road.

A review in the October 1996 issue of Q magazine ventured that it "may well be the best rock book ever".

Two great versions of Sweet Jane by two of my favourite artist. Mott and Lou Reed. Can't get the Youtube link to work for some reason.
