interested to find out what forum members think to the hit and run players online.

i am seeing it more often where a player doubles up and leaves the table only to reappear on another table, double up again and disappear for the night

I mostly blame Slotboom and his book.

Mild annoyance at worst, comical at best.

It's just part of the game these days. I haven't personnally experienced this for a while now. The cash will eventually be recycled back into the poker community.... Just frustrating when it's happening at your table.

I don't understand why this matters. The point of the game is to win money, right?

It's just considered bad poker edicate. If you double up and fold an orbit or two before leaving then no one will care. If it happened too often the games will just dry up, if it's in a home game you just wouldn't be invited back. Some casino cash games have a 3 hour min sit down if you winning, just to protect the game.

Really, that's a bit silly I think? Which casinos none I have ever heard of. This actually sounds bad for winning players as casual players are less likely to sit down and drop some money in the game if they don't feel they can have a quick gamble and leave. Also it cause issues where if you double up and end up playing deep stacked OOP to a good player you may not wish to stay for this reason

I see no issue with it at all online, live it is kind of bad etiquette but I don't think anybody really cares too much.

Sorry I think you misunderstood. Some cash games in casino's have a 3 hour rule for wining players, not some casinos practice this as a rule of thumb.

I think it is perfectly fine for the reasons I've already covered. The game I'm basing this on runs almost every night, normally with a few players on the waiting list.

Bad edicate, good etiquette 😌

If a player wins a big pot live and stands up/leaves immediately then that obvs would annoy people, leaving even one or two hands later so much better as players mentally move on / forget hands quickly.

Online? I think its difficult to have any significant degree of etiquette when you're not interacting in person... if a player wins big then sits out I've no issue with that at all. It's not as if you can't find action online elsewhere quickly enough. Also think players get a huge adrenaline surge after a big pot and mentally it is almost certainly optimal to sit out for at least a few minutes if your hearts pumping away etc - way more likely to play speculative hands when you're on a high. If he then decides, 'actually I'm going to book a winning day and quit', nowt wrong with that

I'll tell u a story as a recreational player, this won't look good on me but at the time it was the right thing for me:

I was out of work and had been for a few months scraping by, I went to Newcastle for the football.

Me and my mate went and had been drinking since midday so we go to the casino he plays a bit of roulette I sit down at poker table with 40 quid.

I managed to spin up to 160 in about an hour, because at the time I couldn't really afford the weekend I text my mate to come over so I could leave and not seem like a hit and run.

So basically it paid for my weekend, I wouldn't do it today as I'm in a more fortunate position but you never know it could be someonea last bit of money. Although it shouldn't be like that but people will always take a shot if they need to and no one understands everyone's situation at the time

Online I don't really think it should be etiquette, bad for the game but people play with their money so can so as they wish.
