T May really is a disgrace how she has handled her public appearances in this disaster.  She thinks everything should be written from a script and if there is any risk of a bit of a ruck with the public she just shuns it.  Today, obviously being advised, she turns up at a hospital for PR reasons only to try to minimize the damage to her image.  Her social skills are literally zero.  We really need a new PM.

Corbs and the Mayor really got the importance and took all the shit from the public during their meetings with the public, esp the Mayor.  Fair play to him.  Some seven year old really put him in a tough spot with some hard hitting questions.

You would have thought she would have learnt the lessons from the election. You can't treat the electorate like that and expect them to vote for you.

She is just one of these socially inept people who live in Waitrose in middle England who are just have no idea how to interact with anyone outside of her own little circle.

surely she just knew it would be an absolute farce, no one likes her, she'd have nothing even slightly positive to say so this was actually the lesser or two evils?

What else can she do though? To paraphrase Lincoln: It's hide and be thought to be an incompetent halfwit or engage people and remove all doubt.

Stand down.  Realise she doesn't have the necessary all around skill set for the job (surely she knows this by now?) and save her party from more and more long term PR damage as the nasty party further down the line.

choo choo said on This week on bbc1 after QT last night that she will be gone by conference season one way or the other and it would be much easier if she goes sooner rather than later.  He also made a good point about this being a King's Cross/Hillsborough moment where this disaster will change things forever.  These tower blocks will never be the same again just like football grounds changed forever after Hillsborough.

No one wants the job, that's why she is still there

She wanted to stand down on election night, but was persuaded to stay.

Brexit talks will be the death knell of any political career. So might as well let someone whose career is already in ruins lead them.

I think she's likely to be PM for another 2 years.

How much faster would the fire engine have arrived if Boris had not okayed the cuts?

There's also parallels with Hurricane Katrina, which showed that the level of compassion or any real interest that the Republican government had in poor people was essentially zero.

hard to answer as there could always just be one driving past + it doesn't seem like they could do much beyond helping a small portion of people. i'd imagine you're trying to imply that the cuts didn't necessarily affect the on the night response.

other questions could be, how many more inspections could be done on tower blocks with less staff? or how many more counselors will these men and women who risked their lives have access to after stepping over numerous dead bodies? or how soon will those men and women who spent all night struggling to save lives have to go back to do another shift and go to other fires? or how many of these man and women will get double redundancy pay like Tory MPs?

It's not easy to measure. Which cuts do we mean? We're the 5/6th biggest economy in the world and it seems we can't afford to adequately fund any of our public services. Just looking at the closure of one station and measuring it in minutes/seconds in an emergency response won't tell us anything.

Crime rates fall - shouldn't we have less police?
Number of fires drops - shouldn't we have less firemen?

Or should we never, ever cut any public sector spending - just in case?

obviously waste and 'unnecessary spending' shouldn't be tolerated.

talking about crime from a numbers perspective doesn't work though.

we also have to be able to question how austerity is being applied when the absolute most important parts of our fabric (the bits that keep us safe) are given up in exchange for absolute bullshit that benefits those making the decisions.

I think proportionate reductions where clear evidence can be presented in the support of the decisions are OK. We don't have anything remotely like that though. The Conservative party have been in a running battle with the public sector since as far back as my British political reading goes. It certainly predates any modern economic pressures, pre dates Thatcher. It's just an ideological battle. A good example is deregulation of the environment, if Trump did what this government have done people would say he was crazy, yet it's barely been noticed.
