Pretty sure i read somewhere (small sample size of course) but backing the 3rd placed finisher blind was a profitable strategy since the play offs began.  I get the let down spot but it won't be an issue for Brighton anywhere near as much as Mboro.  Brighton have been expecting a play off spot for most of the season.

It is

Same as a lot of the good old saying's in betting "outsider of 3 wins more than it should in racing" my fav. You do your brains backing the outsider of 3 in racing.

Can't remember the last horse race with 3 runners where the rag won where that saying wasn't mentioned.  Never discussed in 4 runner races when the rag wins.  What is the significance of 3 runners?

Old ones are always the best.  'Never go skint taking a profit' 'Never go skint laying a shortie' 'Never back odds on aways' 'No such thing as a bad priced winner' 'Rather back a 6/4 bad value winner than a value 20/1 loser'  All classics.

My Mrs always says "a value bet is one we've got to have which always loses".

Drives me bananas.

How have today's results affected the equation at the top?

Presumably Brighton's marginally inferior GD is the key thing now?

It's all too tight to tell!!

Brighton have a tough game v Derby, Boro a tough one v Birmingham. Either way it is all coming down to the last game if the season at the Fortress Riverside!

I'm a Boro fan, and I'm not feeling particularly confident at the minute

Burnley almost there, boro been poor last 3 games. Just need to match boros result versus Birmingham and last game of season will be a free shot at the promotion before the potential play offs.

Boro blink first. If Brighton beat Derby, they'll travel to the Riverside knowing a draw is enough.

Boro screwed by incompetent officials first you miean.

Still, the best home record in the league, knowing a win gets us up against a team we beat 3-0 earlier in the season.

I will take that

Good open game.

I can see both qpr and derby getting something on Monday.

Boro attacking will play right into our style. Hopefully the 3-0 gives boro false thoughts, we had 6 first teamers out that day and have added Wilson skalak knockaert sidwell, and our players came back from injury now (except March and Zamora). We are devastating on the counter attack recently.

Glad I've got my boro ticket now!

Think team coming third will win the play offs.

Always find it laughable when fans blame the officials. Especially when the Brum goalie did his level best to give you the win on a platter.

Especially when the QPR boro game recently should have been a draw except for the biased linesman towards boro!

Great result for Wednesday today.

Looks like a Friday night first leg semi final at Hillsborough.

Anything from here on is bonus territory.

Good luck! As a Swans fan, the play-offs is what I miss the most. Everything on the line and it will be an electric atmosphere.
