As this thread was started by me and not EvilPie, Amatay or Woodsey, you will know pictures of female downhill skiiers in bikinis or that woman scratching her backside in the tennis photo are not required.

Every now and then, someone comes along in sport and does something basic so effortlessly and so gracefully, that it is truly artful to watch. It's so good, you know that there are mugs of biscuit flavoured tea throughout the nation, as people have gawped at the telly and the digestive has been dangling too long post-dunk.

Roger Federer's backhand?

Ian Bell's cover drive?

Any horse I've backed getting up/holding off challengers.

Rodgers helping the Packers get the overs backers paid, again.

If I'm not financially invested, I'd say O' Sullivan in full flow is probably the thing that I appreciate most, but that's a given, since I spent my formative years playing several hours a day Cheesy

Good thread.

I'm no gymnastic expert, but this was pretty breathtaking

So many things come to mind.  I like:

Ronnie in full flow
Sachin at his prime
Warne and that ball (or Bishoo)
Taylor demolishing opponents and getting obscene averages

Peoples thoughts on:

Torvil and Dean?
Pele? Messi?
Jessica Ennis?

So many things you could talk about!

This has to be the horse race that, without having backed it, brought me closest to tears.

Frankel, in 2011, winning the 2000 Guineas, a race too long to go flat out all the way. They said.

Justine Henin's backhand is more beautiful than Federer's.  Discuss.

What a horse that Best Mate was.

Stewards here.  Don't think he was that good, just the others weren't great at that time.

Sprinter Sacre, Kauto Star, Denman and Master Minded all better at their peak in my mind.  That Master Minded demolition was probably the one race that sticks in my mind.  I don't know if it beat much, but the way he did it.  On phone so will link it later.

I'm sure Tighty remembers it well...

But some might say he wouldn't need to make catches like that if he were Megatron:

Doesn't matter how many defenders you put on him. Doesn't matter how hard you press the quarterback. Once the ball is up there to be won, it's Calvin's.

Denman and Kauto when Denman won the GC was the gold cup of my lifetime for me.  Awesome display from the tank.
