I'm biased because I backed Best Mate. It was my first year at Uni and I had backed Baracouda the race before in a double. 9/4 and 11/8, if memory serves. Wasn't for much, really, but it paid for my week!

I assume there's a ten year limitation period for aftertiming?

2003 Cheltenham Gold Cup

What a horse that Best Mate was.

Stewards here.  Don't think he was that good, just the others weren't great at that time.

Sprinter Sacre, Kauto Star, Denman and Master Minded all better at their peak in my mind.  That Master Minded demolition was probably the one race that sticks in my mind.  I don't know if it beat much, but the way he did it.  On phone so will link it later.

Agreed, 2008 masterminded is incred. The second was a CC winner from the previous year plus MM was only 5 as he couldnt run as a novice.

Justine Henin's backhand is more beautiful than Federer's.  Discuss.

It's close for sure

But I prefer Fed

Yep, couldn't find the race on its own.  Just took the breath away at the time, very much like the Frankel 2000 Guineas

This has to be the horse race that, without having backed it, brought me closest to tears.

Frankel, in 2011, winning the 2000 Guineas, a race too long to go flat out all the way. They said.

This. The story of that day. The draw. The performance. Amazing.
In my top 3 most impressive sporting performances.

Didn't really care for racing, until I was convalescing after a hospital stay in November 2011, and saw Kauto for the first time.

This wins for horse racing for me.

Most remarkable thing I ever saw.
