Eamonn Coghlan's finishing kick. And, in particular, his look at the Russian as he overtook him on the final bend of the 1983 World Championships, with the rest of the field nowhere near, when he just knew that his opponent couldn't match him and he was going to win the gold.

Reminded me of when Steve Cram used to tuck in to the pack and then on the 200-250metres just let rip and destroy the field.

The most beautiful thing in sport is true sportsmanship displayed when the stakes are highest:

While I am an unashamed Jack Nicklaus fan, I've always thought this is exaggerated as an act of great sportsmanship. USA had retained the Ryder Cup with a half, and Jacklin was probably 1/20 to hole the putt anyway.

If it was a putt to win the Ryder Cup that Jack had conceded, then sure, it would be amazing.

I think Jimmy White declaring a foul on himself in one of his finals v Hendry was a far greater act of sportsmanship.

Apparently Nicklaus said ' I don't think you would have missed that Tony, but I didn't want to give you the chance.'

the sheer unpredictability is what keeps me watching.
No matter how big the favourite, no matter the size of the supposed gap in class, no matter that you are three down at halftime or one down in stoppage time.

Unpredictability is beautiful.
