As sporting spectacles go, The Open @ St Andrews must be near the top of the list.

Even better, it's covered by the BBC, so we get up to 11 hours per day with no adverts, & plenty of Peter Alliss & Ken Brown.

Roll on Thursday.

I'm delighted I've chosen this week of all weeks to be off work with torn ankle ligaments. Time to put my feet up and enjoy the golf!

It's a birdie fest so far, needs a bit of wind to defend the course.

Good.

Somehow, it's the elements which help to make St Andrews such a wonderful spectacle. Rain, wind, the more the better.

I love the open, but not very interesting to watch today.
Hopefully some wind will change that.

the course can be overpowered these days, yes (not long) and the greens are relatively straightforward?

love the setting, particularly the shots down 17 and 18, but these old links courses needs wind to make them a golfing challenge?

is that basically it?

Of the 81 players on the course, 66 are at par or better. TigerWoods is 4 over. The only player he's beating is Rod Pampling
