I went into a McDonald's for my breakfast yesterday and was disappointed to be told that as it was now 10:45 breakfast had finished and they were now on the lunchtime menu. I wasn't in lunch mode, so I sallied forth to see what else Hinckley had to offer.

I didn't have to go far, right next door was a Morrison's supermarket. I knew it had a restaurant but had never thought about going there for brekky. What a pleasant surprise. Full English with toast / fried bread and a cuppa for £4.99. What's more, you can customise. 'Bacon well done, hold the tomato, extra egg please'.

This got me thinking, there must be other multi outlet places that offer a decent start to the day. I'm told Greggs is worth a look.

On trips to DTD where I had to stay overnight, breakfast at Asda was definitely part of my routine. Lucy and I both breakfasted there before the GP final days. Set me up nicely Smiley

Most supermarket restaurants offer a breakfast. Some are exceptional, like Morrison's, and Asda, others not so much, Tesco comes to mind, with Sainsbury's sitting in the middle.

Sandwiches from Morrison's,  Asda and Sainsbury trump Greggs btw. Their meal deals are much better too. Sainsbury offers sandwich drink and crisps for £3 and include their top end sandwiches in the deal. Tiger prawns and rocket, New York deli beef with trimmings both score highly.

Don't forget Wetherspoon's either when you need breakfast.

That's a good point. I never think of pubs at breakfast time (Or at any other time for that matter) but you've just reminded me that our local hostelry, the Mill on the Soar opens at 7am for breakfast. I must give it a go.

The Prison is all the rage for a breakfast in Norwich currently.

Soon to be released inmates have started a Café and its amazing in a Black Pudding, 4 Rashers, Chipped Mug type of a way.

Debenhams also do a passable (better the McD's anyway) breakfast.

Used to use British Rails canteens when i used to go out with my Dad in the School holidays in his lorry.

The full plates necessitated an afternoon nap though.

Stacking or keeping food warm when you place another plate on top?

In that case you're really going to turn your nose up at my suggestion of Marks & Spencer's cafe.
