Forgive my indulgence, but i am reflective
My grandmother is 100 years old today, here with a granddaughter and great-granddaughter earlier this morning

born 4th December 1915 in Bristol
She was the youngest of 11 children.
She had 8 older brothers, the five eldest died in world war one and she never knew them
She trained to be a nurse, and married my grandfather Richard in 1936
In the war my grandfather was stationed, as a Squadron Leader, in Egypt and then Tunisia
My grandmother ran field hospitals through the war
On returning to England in 1946 she resumed nursing at St Georges Hospital, Windsor which she did until retirement in the 1970s
She had 4 children, 11 grandchildren of whom i am the eldest and currently 12 great-grandchildren. Her daughter pre-deceased her
She took me to Leicester City football matches when i was 5-7 years old and i guess that would have been the last thing she wanted to do, she took me to The Oval as a 10 year old, she was a member of Surrey CCC and She was the person (must have been in her sixties) who kicked a ball at me in makeshift goals when i was pretending to be Peter Shilton. She's left me (she says) her almost complete collection of Wisdens in her will.
There is a big family party tomorrow.
