As does the man who oversaw the Conservative party's surprisingly successful election campaign this year:

How do the Tories manage to get away with giving their electoral campaign manager a knighthood? An MBE at a push maybe, but a knighthood!

crony honours do nothing for me, but its not an isolated example and was to be entirely expected
spend 10+ years in politics, on whatever side, and you've got a good shot at a gong/peerage.
