Will be strange not having Crashtor on the grid, Renault going to struggle given the late change to the in-house power unit.

Williams looking to consolidate and iron out some of the low speed handling issues of the FW37.

Also looking forward to seeing the new Ultra soft tyres in action, wonder how close they'll get to 2009 era speeds?

I remember hearing that the Honda was supposedlyy much more powerful this year, so just thought I'd see if I could get a crafty tenner e/w on Alonso at 100/1.   Turns out I was a little slow and away from Marathon, the best price is 25/1.

This is going to create some almighty rows when people get blocked by a daydreaming chugger and they get hooked back to the pits in 15th place!

F1 doesn't seem to be far away from introducing mushrooms and red shells.

Is this new protection to prevent a "Massa" type incident with flying debris?  Or can it withstand a strong impact like what happened to poor old Bianchi?

I am sure I read somewhere that it would not have prevented Bianchi's injuries.

So true. So sad. Us insiders tear our hair out with the dilution of the purity of the sport.

I am sure I read somewhere that it would not have prevented Bianchi's injuries.

Hmm I don't know, maybe without the direct head impact these halos would prevent he might have been slightly better off, but I'd agree that the impact itself would still prevent him from just jumping out with zero injuries.

Don't put any dollar on Mclaren, Red Bull or Renault this year. But do wager some bets on Torro Rosso, they will be very strong at some circuits. Ta

Hamilton says the "halo" head protection is "the worst-looking mod in F1 history" and safety is "fine as it is" https://instagram.com/p/BCgW_mcr01r/

F1 is the only sport in the world where they try and find a way of making it worse every year.
