If you could choose 300 animals of one species who will obey your every command to take over a city.

What animal would you choose, and why?

Mosquitos - 300 silent (silentish - there will be some buzzing)  assassins meaning I can target people with malaria at will.

I would choose the proboscis monkey.

With their monkey boners at full strength, they spread their legs, show it to their opponent, and scream and shake the branches. It seems like an odd tactic, but try it the next time somebody rubs you the wrong way. See if they don't back down. Note: The erection part is very important. It also helps if you have a penis that is so bright red that you could signal a rescue plane with it while lost at sea.

Lions would be quite cool or one of the other big cats, perhaps panthers.

Lions don't do many kills in the wild but they are largely nocturnal, which could come in handy.

Presumably I would be taking over a city for my own reward/ selfish reasons and not to improve governance for the local nationals.

In that case I would choose snakes as the propaganda I could generate with those bad boys would amplify my power and hold over the city, snakes are hard to pin down and can terrify in buildings. (Snakes on a plane?)

My plan would be to split them up into teams of thirty. I would send one team be to shut down the mobile networks and another to the power grid. I would then send roadblock teams to get in position to isolate the central district and send in hit teams to fix the police and the mayors office and get him to handover power to me. All the first teams would be on stand by if he didn't transition power, however, my first team would be sent to the mayors house to hold his family hostage if he tried any funny business.

Velociraptors.

Certainly the best idea yet: powerful, quick, intelligent (possibly) pack animals makes a lot of sense.

I have found a gif that suggests there is a better animal, though:
