Elior Sion has won the players championship.

Daniel Negreanu is losing his shizzle on twitter.  Having earlier declared he was going to win the 50k, he goes on to declare he is not going to play the WSOP again if they don't change the player of the year points system.   Guess pointing out how lucky he is to be sponsored to play so much won't go down too well.  Matusow was ranting the other day as well.

I dare say the new points system isn't great, but neither is the system that overewards 100 player tournaments where old school pros play games barely anyone else plays.   But they should keep the new system simply because it annoys Negreanu and Matusow.

Rapidly turning into Keith here.

Why would you care about an ego driven award that offers no financial incentive to win right?  He is a big time pro and makes his living playing poker.  Why would you say you are not playing the biggest 60 events in the world ever again just because an award which pays you nothing doesn't suit you (when it actually probably does suit you more than most)?  Suck it up.  I am sounding like Keith now as well.

No idea, seems madness to me.

I had a look at the bloke who was leading and he has more final tables than Negreanu and the average field size is way bigger.  Negreanu finishes his 100 runner highroller and jumps into a 300 entrant 1500 Razz with one of the smallest prize pools in the WSOP.  Razz is just about the worst game out there for fun too.

The geezer is a self-obsessed, petulant, selfish, arrogant wanker.

Whenever he says something should happen "for the good of poker" you can take 1.01 it is actually for the good of Daniel Negreanu.

I had no opinion on the issue previously having read your opinion but after this comedy statement i 100% agree with you.   Why does he care?  He is paid more from stars a year than he probably makes playing poker nowadays.

Two blasts from the past from the old Brighton festivals in there.  Deborah and Sonia.  Good luck to both.  Think the WSOP site has incorrectly put the buy in at 10k rather than 1k right for the women's event?

WORLD SERIES OF POKER MAIN EVENT TO AIR LIVE DAILY FOR FIRST TIME

ESPN, ESPN2 & POKERGO ON THE SCENE AT RIO IN LAS VEGAS JULY 8-17

FINAL TABLE LIVE ON ESPN/ESPN2 JULY 20-22

July 5, 2017 – For the first time in the 48-year history of the World Series of Poker® there will be live* video coverage of the world’s richest annual poker tournament every day. (*30-minute delay per gaming regulations)
Starting with the opening flight on Saturday, July 8, and continuing daily through the event’s conclusion on Saturday, July 22, ESPN, ESPN2 and PokerGO will provide the most comprehensive video account the event has ever seen, as players vie for a first place prize of around $8 million, while competing for approximately $60 million in prize money.

ESPN/ESPN2 will carry an estimated 40+ hours of live WSOP Main Event coverage this year starting with four hours of opening day action on July 8 as well as providing every-hand coverage of the final table during a three-night primetime finale at 9pm ET July 20, 21 and 22.  A final table preview special will air the night prior to the Main Event final table, on July 19 at 10pm on ESPN2.

PokerGO, the world’s only live poker subscription service, will cover the WSOP Main Event in tandem with ESPN/ESPN2 to provide an anticipated 60 hours of additional coverage.

“This is poker’s Olympics and we are thrilled that ESPN and PokerGO have joined forces to bring viewers around the globe inside access to our game’s most prestigious event, the WSOP Main Event and the spectacle that it is,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.  “We can’t wait to get started on July 8 and look forward to sharing this event with a massive audience.”

Norman Chad, Lon McEachern and Kara Scott anchor all the coverage from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and will be joined by a rotating cast of player analysts throughout poker’s longest-structured event.

Phil Laak, seen here playing today, may look daft, but he's actually a shrewd judge of character.

He described Mr Channing as "my favourite curmudgeon".

Harsh.
