After a horror bogey, triple-bogey start to his first round on Thursday, and me tearing up my virtual ticket, my boy Cam Smith has a live shot tonight.

He's in solo 2nd three shots behind a journeyman pro who must surely have a flock of butterflies in his tummy.

Gooooo Cam goooo

Lovely. Nice one, Ralph!

I didn't do anything, but Niall Lyons did him, and some guy that placed, too.

Cheers guys - it's nice to actually win a playoff.

I've been playing an early-season angle - betting mostly on guys who played in the President's Cup as I thought they would be sharper.

I've gone for Eric Van Rooyen this week in Abu Dhabi 55/1 ew 1/5 1-7.

I was goint to throw a dart at Robert McIntyre too but it looks as though he's withdrawn.

Is that Niall who was/is cardroom supervisor at Luton Marky?

I'm going for a slightly left-field selection in Abu Dhabi this week:

Graeme McDowell has been playing really well recently across the pond and is apparently desperate to get back into our Ryder Cup team.

The winning scores usually being in the -20's mean it's a bit of a putting contest and one thing G-Mac can do is putt.

The course should suit him too and I think he's overpriced @140 with betty - I have also gone for him @15/2 to finish in the top-10.

Another dart has been thrown at the returning Bobby McIntyre @55.

Good Luck

Sorry, missed this. Niall Lyons is the Oddschecker Golf Tipster.

No golf, for me. Gonna try having a look at some chelts if I get a chance over the weekend.

I'm going back to Xander Schauffele @25 for this week's rowdy Waste Management  Phoenix Open as he's played okay here the last twice.

Also dabbled on Bob McIntyre again in Saudi @33/1 ew 1-5.

Small ew double too as it would be rude not to.

I'm giving GMac one more chance in Saudi just in case it was merely jet-lag which caused his erratic play last week in Dubai.

A dart @210 and another @13.5 top-10.

Encouraging start for 200+/1 poke GMac - tied for the lead after round one.
