£30 Milion Quid!!?

For Pickford? You have to be shitting me. He was decent in between the sticks for Sunderland but there is absolutely no way there is justification for a £30 million transfer.
Tell me I'm not the only one thinking this. If he's worth £30 million Dembele's value has just gone to a £100 million.

£18m plus loads of add ons. If they end up paying £30m in total he will be a bargain based on what he will have to have done to trigger the £30m. £18m basic is fuck all nowadays in the EPL. Just seems a lot north of the border as you could probably buy Rangers outright as a club for less than that!
Potential is huge, he is English, got great work ethic/mentality from reports. Long 5 year contract to tie him up and potentially sell him on at a huge profit if he does make it to the top. If he doesn't they have lost £18m. Hardly big money nowadays. Stoke paid that for Imbula for example. Who? I hear you cry. Seems very good business for Everton to me even if it was £30m up front. Butland must be worth £50m mind based on this valuation.

Ah ok. never knew it was based on add=ons just seen £30 million for Pickford.
£18 million for Rangers? hahaha. I'd rather set it on fire. But you could buy the club, stadium and academy for that.
I wonder what happened to that super casino and hotel they were building in Govan.

Compared to the money we got for Forster it's ridiculous. Hoping we are past being ripped off for players by Southampton when we look at the prices for Wanyama & (hopefully Van Djik).
Arb Rangers aren't a great example of buying a club - they were sold for £1 a few years back

Very true. Forget they went for a quid. Maybe Aberdeen are worth £18m! Off chance there might be some oil under the pitch!

Good keeper worth the weight in gold, trust me I've played a lot of footy manager.

A highlights reel of his last game away to Chelsea should be a signifier of just how raw he is, he was flapping all over the place and in most games his command of the area has been pants, but that is definitely something that comes more with age and experience.
He does possess great reflexes and a natural ability that is exciting though, but he is nowhere near the finished article now, I hope he becomes so though.
Let's hope his worth is going in the opposite direction to Hart's anyway who apparently was pretty dreadful at Torino.

You just have to take transfer fees with a pinch of salt these days. The figures are so inflated (for various reasons) that when clubs are throwing around tens of millions on players you just kinda have to go 'meh'. Just this week 2 relegated players have gone for what could be a combined £47m (Pickford and Maguire from Hull)
Instead of the actual figure, better just to look at the transfer as a whole and if it represents value or not. At this moment in time you can't really claim Pickford is value. However, with his age, his homegrown status etc he certainly could represent more value if Everton keep hold of him for years to come (he might need to improve a little bit though!). Even if it goes tits up then they won't sell him on at a big loss, he'll retain his fee unless something calamitous happens.
We were crucified for spending close to £100m on Stones and Sterling. We could get 10 years each out of them, maybe even more. Again, should we look to sell them on in a few years then they are young enough to retain most of their transfer fees. Whilst the headline figure looks a chunk of cash, from a long term perspective the signings make good business sense.
Sane cost us £37m last summer and I'd say that was a steal. Managla cost us similar and we had our pants pulled down. We managed to sign Kompany, Zabaleta, Silva (Dave) and Yaya for essentially what we paid for KDB.
My season ticket costs £299 so whilst there are plenty of fans disillusioned with the influx of money into the game and the knock on effect it can have (including many City fans), I bloody love it

Donnarumma with a year left probably going to go for less than Pickford.
Won't look a steal then

Wonder how much this new keeper, Matthew Ryan, has set Brighton back? Club record fee, though I have no idea what the previous record transfer was so unsure what the yardstick is. He had a 6 year deal at Valencia after signing in 2015 but has only made 10 starts, been mostly out on loan.
25 years old and over 30 caps for Australia, but not a name I'm familiar with.

In Spain it is a bit different. These are buy-out clauses which are in most of the players' contracts in Spain. Buy-out clauses are way, way, way above the player's market value and mean that if that amount is paid then the new club get the player. Release clauses just give clubs the option of talking to a player.

Cynics immediately suggesting that would be a good way to stop people talking about his alleged tax dodging. Though if that was the plan, it isn't working, as now I am talking about his tax dodging.
Allegedly his representatives have briefed every major newspaper in Europe he
is a tax dodger
wants a transfer.
