http://www.gukpt.com/gukpt/gukpt-schedule/

Does rake in these events actually matter to the vast majority of punters?  It would seem like it doesn't as the GUKPT is banging its fees up again next year to £1000+£110 or £500+£60 for the gukpt main events in 2018.  The first year of the tour i think it was £1000+£50.

I have often said the goliath could charge probably £100+£50 and most of the punters would still pay it.  It looks like they are going to be chancing their arm on this as they are advertising buying into next year's event at the early bird price of £100+£20 before 31st December so it is assumed it will cost more to enter on the day than the £120 they are offering for early bird punters willing to tie their cash up for 7 months in advance.

Anyone certain to play probably should be buying in before new year to save getting ironed out.

There was quite a lot of negative feedback on their social media advertising I believe. They compounded this by removing some of the negative comments which caused people on my friends list to open attack on their own walls which compounded the general feeling of ill will towards them.

Grosvenor are being somewhat short-sighted in my opinion as the PartyPoker tour gather momentum.

There is always negative feedback from the loud few but my point is does it actually make any difference to the vast majority of people who play them?  Even the moaners quite often moan but still turn up and pay it so they look even more stupid for me than people who don't moan at all.

What level would it have to go to for a substantial majority to boycott the event?  £1000+£150?  £1000+200?  Even if they charged £1200 and the field halved in size they would still make the same total rake and have far smaller expenses from a field half the size dealer wise and the length of time it took for the event to run.  From a pure business point of view i can see why they are doing it because i don't think it will have any impact on the field sizes at all.

This isn't just a discussion about the GUKPT i am looking at it from the wider industry angle.

Yeah, I get your point mate.

Blackpool G heaving for the Northern Lights this week - such a popular leg I can't see a few extra quid in rake making a difference.

I thought about coming up for the first few days this week play some cash/side events but i am going to St Ledger dogs on sky sports at Perry Barr tomorrow night/had family issues last weekend so couldn't make it.  Good luck this weekend Trigg if you are playing.

I already avoid events like the Goliath for this reason. Absolutely disgraceful, they should see if Negreanu is free to do some videos for them.
