Poker in York area

Hi there,
I'm going to be in York on the 24th/25th of this month. I'm free Friday 24th night and there is a chance I may be free late on Sat 25th. I know there's no casino's in York, so does anyone have any idea what is one offer in the surrounding areas? Looking for both MTTs (for the Friday) and cash for either/both nights as well, ideally something fun as i'll be well in beer on both nights but willing to pay if there is a decent game.
Need to be able to get to/from York via public transport (last/first train of night is fine)
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Leeds is your best and closest option.
The relatively new Victoria Gate casino has a decent MTT schedule and cash games nightly. The Grosvenor over there is mostly just cash now, think they only have 2 comps a week neither of which are on a Friday.
If memory serves me right (and it should, cos I only played it a few weeks ago!), the Friday night comp at VG is a £30 F/O, couple of re-entries permitted, and guaranteed at £3.5k. Think their cash games start at the £1/£1 level, usually have a table of £2/5 on the go as well. I think similar cash game limits run at Grosvenor but I haven't been there for a while (and VG is taking all their business). Both casinos walkable from the station.
Trains run frequently until about 02.15 (though a little more limited after midnight), and a day return from York will set you back about £13.50. That is the only public transport option back. Expect to pay around £40 if you have to jump in a taxi. If you want the option to pull an all nighter then an open return is about £18 and trains resume again around 05.30 I think. Bear in mind that you have no chance of making the last train on Friday night if you go pretty deep in the VG tourney, unless you can get the remaining players to agree to a 25 person deal. (there are barriers, but there is a very good chance your train ticket won't be checked on the last train back by a conductor, so if you got an open return on the Friday it might/should see you through for Saturday too, then just buy a cheap advance single to get back to Leeds or jump on the Coastliner bus)
Most importantly, make sure you enjoy a Yorkshire pudding wrap when in York. Poker can wait, that can't.
