By way of a reminder that the Players championship is love on ITV at present, here's an interview Ronnie gave yesterday.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/snooker/47441567

Has he lost the plot?

He seems to have gone a bit daft as to his comments on ranking points on his Twitter feed too.

First two semi-final matches are all left-handers.

It's too much to be a quinkidink.

It's glaringly obvious that Jill Douglas knows absolutely nothing about snooker.

I don't mind but it makes life difficult for the pundits when she asks questions that they've answered in the previous sentence.

It's embarrassing to watch.

It's not her fault she was given the job, but it's hard to understand.

When she conducts the on-screen chats, I cringe every time, & so do those bring questioned.

On the plus side, full marks to ITV4 who cover snooker extremely well, a distinct & welcome lack of gimmicks, bells & whistles, & in Hendry, the best snooker commentator by a mile.

If only they covered horse racing even half as well. It's Cheltenham next week, & Mr Chamberlain will be giving it all the "fantastic", "best ever", "history being made" schmultz.  Get outa there Ed, & leave it to Francesca, who I plan to marry.

Hendry is great but he assumes everyone likes to see fast-paced pot-fests and dislikes long tactical battles just because he does.

Clive Everton at 81 still has it IMO.

Yes, a big fan of Clive Everton, too, though I think Francesca would do a good job too.

Still in grumpy mode- Do audience members never tire of pointing, waving and laughing at themselves on the monitor?

Surely five or six times each is enough.

"That cue-ball came off the cushion almost twice as fast as it went on".

Oh yeah? Try telling that to prof Brian Cox and he'll tell you to fuck off.

Surely that’s possible with backspin or am I missing something?

First semi-final, two left-handers. What are the chances?

Against the nap, cushion, with the nap?

Put simply, no. That's like saying if you roll a ball across a carpet it's speed will double when it hits the lino.

But it would roll further giving the impression that it had "sprung" off the cushion.
