Masters Snooker at the Ally Pally has started, & Steve David called this "the most amazing shot in the history of snooker".

That's a bit strong, but it's a pretty amazing & very unusual double fluke. (Double fluke, not to be confused with fluke double).

Lisowski was very disappointing - his B-game will never be good enough with that standard of safety-play at the top level.

I chalked my new tip again last night Tom so if you're up for a game next week let me know.

Well I'm definitely feeling better now Ralph so I will check my diary and see if I have a spare afternoon.

BTW- That bimbo who was presenting this afternoon's match does my head in.

"Do you think he'll be trying to do a cue action today Steve?"

Unfortunately I missed her - just caught the post-interval* games as I was busy golfing, it was a lovely afternoon out of the icy wind.

*I love the word "interval" as it was my first and only ever triple-triple-bingo at scrabble - I wonder if it's rarer than a hole-in-one at golf.

I am struggling to recall seeing as many in-offs in a single frame as there have been in Frame 5 of this Carter-Higgins affair, & there are still 9 reds on the table.

Is this a 2 day game?  Might not be done before 2am at this rate.

I thought the Higgins Cater match was great viewing, but then I think there's much more drama in a scrappy match than there is in a one visit per frame match.

BTW - We need VAR in snooker these days for decisions like that yellow that Carter missed.

Yes, not enjoyed a match so much in a very long time, I watched every second of it. As it happens I run a daily sports results competition every day Next Door & the Carter Higgins match was the subject last night, so it all worked out rather well despite the fact I don't generally enjoy watching Higgins. We are doing Kyren Wilson v Stu Bingham tonight, if that's half as good I'll be happy.

I was a little surprised at that, I'm fairly sure he never hit the yellow.

For those that missed it, here's the "incident" with the yellow.

He clearly missed the yellow ball here and it seems like he cheated - only he knows whether it was deliberate..

I like Ali despite his prickly exterior.

I think he thought he hit it.

Yes, I genuinely think he thought he hit it. With cameras everywhere, it'd be pretty dumb to claim he hit it if he did not think he did.

I'm a big fan of him needless to say. First he had testicular cancer, which he beat, then lung cancer, ditto, & he's a permanent sufferer with Crohn's Disease.

Fair to say he's seen a few challenges along the road.
