The Giblet looks to be a much improved player to me with a beautiful cue-action to boot.

I have consequently had a dabble on him for the Worlds @45/1 ew.

Maguire is a horrible human being.  That interview just sums him up.   How he has never been caught or found out for match fixing over nearly 20 years is incredible.   Not saying this game was bent but he showed today yet again his total lack of respect for his profession in that interview.

Forgive me for asking the obvious arby, but if he has never been caught or found out for match fixing over nearly 20 years, how do you know about it?

I watched him live in the malta cup in the front row in 2008 try to lose to Tony Drago (local legend and wildcard)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Malta_Cup

Round robin dodgy as fuck non ranking event in those days.   Built for corrupt match fixers.   Drago hadn't played snooker properly for years and wass on the pool circuit.   Maguire had clearly laid himself at 1/3 and did everything possible to lose the match.   He just didn't factor in how bad Drago was (or drago had backed maguire himself) Drago literally missed 6 blacks off the spot in one frame he was that bad.   Maguire was forced to eventually turn it in and win 4-2 to save his rep.   He had been drinking til 6am in the same bar as me and several other betting types the night before the game as well.   To say he was pissed and didn't give a fuck was an understatement.  It was the only time in 20 years in the betting industry where i watched a game and thought both players were trying to throw the game it was that obvious and bad.

Unsurprisingly the straightest guy in the game Shaun murphy won the event as he was probably one of the few who was too naive to realise what was going on around him.

There are numerous other episodes (and associates of his in the game) but i witnessed this first hand (there were about 50 others in the crowd) and it was shocking.  You can just tell by looking at him, his attitude and his arrogance he is a total entitled wrong un.

£250,000 to the winner, £100,000 to the runner-up.

That's serious money to both of these lads.

Is a bit of business ever done in these things? Say, £160,000 each with the winner getting the extra £30,000, or even a straight chop?

It would have to be a bit under the radar, obv, pretty sure Barry & Co would not approve, but it must be a temptation for the lads who are maybe a shade below the vey best.

How can you do it with the tax man issue?  You won for £250k and the tax man wants his 45% of that don't think he would buy 'business being done' .   Not sure how they can get round it.

Just agree that winner transfers £42,250?
