Who the fcuk is Phil Studd and why is he commentating on snooker?

It's a tough choice. Phil Studd on Eurosport, or John Virgo on BBC, who seems to think it's the wireless & we can't see the pictures.

Yes, he's potted that.

Ooh, he's missed.

It's subjective, but I most enjoy Stephen Hendry, Alan McManus & Neil Foulds. Quite enjoy Joe Johnson too, purely because the whole Joe Johnson story is such a lovely one.

As a player I was a huge Steve Davis fan. As a commentator, ugh. He's snooker's equivalent to Sarah Shriek, just says bland sycophantic stuff, never anything of interest.

Next time I see you ask me to tell you my Joe johnson story. I guarantee it'll put you off him for life.

Happy new year btw Tony.

Stephen Hendry is a huge turn off for me, it’s an ‘every shot is a pot’ mentality and instead of commentating on what’s actually happened he commentates with an eye to what he said should happen before the shot was taken. His attitude to some of the less well
Known players annoys me too. I’ve seen him talk about Hossien Vafaei and Yan Bintao like they won a raffle to be playing in matches against one of the big names recently. If I hear him say he’s hasn’t worked out Yan’s game yet 1 more time I might have to break the TV!

He’s about 11th in the world and he talks about him like he’s no good because he doesn’t know much about him. 🤬🤬 If Yan were British he would be treating him for what he is, a phenomenal talent for his age.

Anyone know how old Yan Bingtao is? Virgo has only mentioned it 25 times.

It's like he's just found out isn't it.

Will reply to both Camel & Bobby later, am watching Ronnie v Higgins at the mo. Followed by Day 2 of the Test between Australia & India. How spoilt are we?

But for now, Dennis Taylor just informed us that Higgins is using a new cue with a brass ferrule made of titanium...

And talking of Hendry, here's a rather odd photo of him spotted recently;

Seema. I don't even fancy her.

She's very versatile & covers a whole variety of sports, but she always strikes me as someone better suited to Regional News Broadcasts or The One Show.

Equally clueless of all of them I assume?

"Will he be using tactics tonight Steve?"

"Did that break off that Higgins cleared up from cost him a little"?
