Oh wow, journalists going to journalist I guess. Unusually not because of the headline being over-hyped - but the bullet points below it are possibly misleading.

There's a balanced article on it on the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-42308341


They haven't been able to correct the defect itself they've been able to stop what the defect causes - so it very much looks like a treatment rather than the implied cure.

The second and third point are roughly true but the problem is that genetically Huntington's is a very simple disease whereas the others are known to have many more complicating factors. i.e. exactly the same technique is unlikely to work.


Just looking at the headline, and the 'potential' benefit this shown - I'd agree with it being most excellent news, but the standards in journalism (particularly when it comes to specialist subjects) at the moment really don't seem to be set particularly high.
